Fp 71hta needs?

Hey all,
I am in the process of having my IX MR built by boostin performance and they are going to be porting the stock hotside of the turbo but it got me thinking. The stock turbo almost has 90k on it and I don't know if the seals or anything are about to go so I started considering the 71hta as a quick simple way to ensure the turbo will be in good working order for awhile.

My question is what all would be needed if I do the swap? Would I need the 84mm housing and oil line? Would the stock slightly crushed bov be ok and hold 26+ psi?

The current build is:
Boostin stage 3 2.0LR
Boostin stage 2 head
gsc s2 cams
springs and retainers
Ets fmic and licp
jmf 02 dump
tbe with high flow cat
ported exhaust and intake manifold
ported hotside
Sparketch cop non cdi
Jmf speed density intake
1120 fic injectors
Walboro 450
and will be tuned on both e85 and 93

I want to be able to push the turbo without concern for surging but if the turbo will hold up and not need the housing and other things that would be the best as I am getting pretty tapped out.

Thanks all!
Chad

Anyone know if the stock 9 bov will hold the boost from this turbo at least?

Thanks!

Crushed properly and you'd probably be good to 29-30psi, just depends on how much over 26psi you're talking about and if it was smashed right. If the turbo has in-n-out shaft play, then it'll need to be rebuilt at some point down the road. If the compressor blades are making contact with the housing, it's done. Last I saw the 71HTA was available with the stock 64mm cover, so you don't have to swap out intakes if that's the case.

If they're gonna tune it, I'm sure he'd let you know if the results seemed off with your setup and the likely solution.

Thanks man for the info. Yea I am assuming I'll be around 30 on e85 and around 24 on pump but that all depends on how the tune is lining up.

lol you keep on adding to the build, I like it. Honestly, with your motor and this altitude you should just hold off on the 71hta and just save for a bigger turbo that doesnt need to work as hard to make power. No need to get this done if the stock turbo is still good. Use the money elsewhere (headwork!) and get a turbo later.

Lol I know. Just considering it. I'll probably just hold off until another time. That seems to be the right way to do it and it keeps me from adding more.
