I know MrFred used it but said it wasn't too hot of a BOV for the evo... I take his word because he has experience with more BOVs that pretty much anyone else on the forums... I went with a Synapse DV after speaking with him...

 

I have a QRJ, its not horrendous, but it's also not great. The anti-surge cover on my red hides a lot of its short comings. When I was running my stock turbo it was terrible. It would probably work fine on a t3 setup that doesn't routinely hit the surge line like the stock frame stuff.

 

Switched from my Synapse to a QR after two Synapses cracked their mounting flanges within 60 days.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my Synapse setup's, but if flange mounting them directly to the intake pipe is where the stress limit is, no go at all stations.

 

MrFred, last I checked, has the new Synapse DV setup in the same way I do (Light spring, Push mode, port B only) and it fixed 75% of his surge he has with the Tial.


I of course have the new synapse as well and absolutely love it. Way less surge than OEM valve and hold my pressure tests over 30psi.

I run a QRJ with an 71HTA and the anti-surge cover. I have never had any instance of compressor surge and the valve has been doing great for me so far! It's a lot louder than I expected as well

 

Try slowly rolling off from 3/4 throttle down to 1/4 throttle in boost. It's terrible. Or being at 1/2 throttle while the turbo is spooling. Those are the two situations where mine flutters terribly.

 

I've been at 1/2 throttle (in 6th Gear) while spooling the turbo and I have not heard it flutter, I did try to load it up in 6th and then back off the gas and got some. The good news is I don't normally drive the car like that!
