My vacuum is 14-15 at idle so I chose the white spring. Just fired up my car for the first time with it installed and it's wanting to hang open a tiny bit at idle

It's fine if it stays open a bit. You can buy a washer at a hardware place and stick it under the spring just thick enough to keep it shut, but being speed density your not going to have issues as your not blowing off metered air.

so what do you guys recommend in my situation? I'm right in between the 2...8 or 10 psi? I'm leaning towards the 8...I'm guessing a little softer is better? also I have a 10 psi spring now on this bov which is the one with the torn diaphragm but it's the old version...I figure the spring should still work on the new? so I can try the 8 and I not I can throw the 10 in...this way I have 2 springs...they're like $30 each woo...

Thanks. Yeah ill try a washer. Its very close to being perfect. It's stays closed most of the time but has trouble returning fully closed after revving the car. Hope it helps op with your decision.

yeah appreciate it man everything def helps...im not sure really which to get...if yours is staying open then maybe 10 psi is best for that vacuum but then again you said its almost there so maybe an 8 psi with a shim/washer is the best way to go...as i said, i have a 10 psi spring here so maybe ill get the 8 psi this way i have both to test and play with...

If you already have the unpainted 10 psi spring then I would definitely go ahead and get the 8 psi

Based on what this says, I would assume the springs are the same. Depending on the housing design (old or new), it may change the rating. So the springs are the same just more compressed in one housing vs the other. Just my opinion tho, maybe check with tial to be sure

ok we'll I got an 8psi spring and as someone stated here it stays open...should I stick a washer in it or throw the 10 psi spring on it? would sticking a washer in it hurt anything?

If your on SD you can just leave it be. If you care about how it sounds or aesthetics you can always stick a washer under the spring, make sure its thin enough to barely notice. If it's open a lot during idle you might need to bump up to the next spring color.

yeah it was about halfway open and I could see inside the pipe...just didn't feel right lol...took it apart and was gonna put a washer in there but didn't feel right either so just threw the 10 psi spring in there from my other bov...something weird is happening though...if I go wot in 3rd gear I hear a weird sort of electric sounding fluttering sound for the first 500 - 1000 rpms or so...its hard to explain...never done this before...runs fine though...
