Yea I am aware that evo's and WRX/STI's, among affordable cars, few of the most expensive to insure. And for those exact reasons you mentioned (plus high probability for theft). Despite this, just wanted to get a feel for what some are paying-

Woah for both? You must live someplace very safe haha, that's incredible to say the least!

I'm 26, live just outside NYC (idk if this matters) and pay about $130/month with a $750 deductible.

Only liability?!
I find that a bit surprising/risky to get on cars like evos, no?
But yea that explains the rate, careful out there on the road!

Yea living outside of NYC, definitely would drop your rate a bit.
130/month is great!

One of the many reasons I'm afraid to pull the trigger on buying an Evo is the insurance rates. Right now I'm paying $110 for my 2007 Civic si, but to put an Evo on my plan I'm looking at ~$300 a month.

$120/mo through AAA
41y.o.
no tickets in 20yrs (knock on wood)
only car on the policy
$100 deductible
one free tow up to 200mi
one free tow up to 100mi
free towing up to 5mi and roadside assistance.

**edit: that's for 5mos. i get the 6th mo free. so i guess that would be $100/mo. Would be cheaper if I had the Civic on the same policy.

Shouldn't be that much unless you have a horrible driving record

first bought my ix when i was 21, almost 22 just after i graduated school. live in upstate NY.

insurance was (gulp) $361 a month for full coverage with i think a $600 deductible (not sure as i never used it )
the car was on my plan/my name with me as the only driver and i had one other vehicle at the time so i was paying like $411 or something like that for both vehicles total each month.
i shopped around for lower rates but my driving record was heinous and at the time it was more like "will this company even write me a policy?" versus "i wonder if geico can save me a few dollars?"

it went down over time though.

It's something that's been my concern as well, as I am looking for an evo now- it has been something that I've been thinking more and more about.
However, honestly I think it's well worth the price.

The thing is, I don't really have a record. I've just driven the car under my dad's insurance but not listed as a driver.

I'm totally expecting to see around ~$300, ball park for my first insurance for my IX in the near future. Just because I don't have any insurance history and because of the car itself.
Good luck bringing your rate down and safe drivings!

Thanks for the share all!

22 years old - Nothing on my record

$175 a month full coverage ($1000 for both collision and comprehensive)

On my mom's insurance listed a driver with 4 other cars. With progressive.

My old Evo X was worse.... $255ish a month same coverage as the IX

you're probably assigned to one of the "cheaper" cars as your primary. if i add my civic to the same policy as the Evo, i'd only pay $5 more/mo than i do for just the Evo. the reason being, the civic would be my primary.

and i forgot: my policy may be a bit less because i claimed to only drive 5k miles per year.
