New Electronic Boost Controller, do I need a retune ?

Hi guys,

I would like to install a Turbosmart e-Boost Street electronic boost controller in my Evo 7.

My car was tuned at 25psi a couple months ago. If I install the Turbosmart EBC and set the boost at 25psi, do I need a retune ?

Also, I just grabbed a S90 billet throttle body from a mate, if I install the new throttle body, do I need a retune ?

If a retune is needed, I will get it tuned on Speed Density with Flex fuel as well.

Thank you for your help

I don't think so, i had my car tuned at 23psi, with manual boost controller. I later installed the profec-b greddy boost controller and set the Lo at 23psi. I drove the car to the tuner after a week and got tuned for 28psi on Hi.

Thank you for your reply. So it will be safe then for the new EBC then.

How about the S90 throttle body ? Do I need a retune ? Based on my reading, it will do just fine without the retune as the MAF will add a bit more fuel to compensate for the extra air.

Thanks

Some boost controllers spike your boost up and down like mine. But I'm sure it will be fine if your tuned around that area of psi. Now as far as the throttle body and leaning out the car and whatnot. That I'm not too sure of.

It all depends on who tuned the car. Keep in mind that any boost pressure just means that the car hits that boost at some rpm, you can have 2 cars running 23 psi max but due to how boost is controlled one hits it at 3500rpm, the other at 5500rpm. The cells that get hit in those cases would be way different. If it was tuned by a good tuner who did'nt only tune the cells where it would hit, but also extrapolated and tuned other cells knowing that changes would happen down the line you are set. If not fun times.

Best thing is if you have a wideband and your own logger is to log the car after the changes and see if the AFRs and knock count look about right. If they do, nothing to do. If they don't

Thank you for your input. I will keep an eye on my wideband gauge to see how much the AFR changes after the EBC and S90 throttle body installed.

Thanks guys
