old 4g63
Just google "sohc 4g63" and you will find tons of them. They were used in Cordias, Tredias, the big box truck Mitsubishis, and yes Galants too so it looks like you have more cars to buy to have owned them all
. Regardless, that Galant (era, US market) never came with a 4G37 anyway either. The 88-92 only came with SOHC 4G63, DOHC 4G63 and DOHC 4G63T (VR4 model). That is it for US market.
As far as knowing the difference by appearance... then you should know there a few obvious differences in the picture.
-The 4G37 does not have the air baffle the 4G63 has that is clearly visible in the picture.
-The 4G37 had the cooling system cap mounted on the water neck in all years, the SOHC 4G63 had the cooling system cap mounted on the radiator.
-The 4G37 valve cover has the oil cap mounted in between the two hold-down nuts; the SOHC 4G63 has the oil cap mounted fully in the corner outside of the hold down nuts.
There is probably more, but I think the point is made.

And no wiki here (nor will you find anything I posted there).... just 20 years of working on Mitsubishis professionally.
