I took the car out, A/C on, got it up to temperature, but just to be sure hit the highway for a loop around the city, and then when back at the house tried your test (I needed to mow the lawn - this was better than doing that). The engine idles down to about 400 like in your video. No oil light.

Engine oil is Mobil 1 10W-40 High Mileage.

In your case I would suggest in order
1. Bad oil pressure switch
2. Wrong oil viscosity
3. Worn oil pump
4. Loose fitting bearings
5. Or maybe in my case I just have a tight engine - dunno

Would a worn out timing belt course this ? The car drives perfect but just the idle taking off wants to die and then takes off . I basically have to slip the clutch to take off

You are correct. I could just be a bad ISC but once after market parts are added the idle is affected. Then what you need is a tune in order to make the engine operate correctly. The thing is, a tuner is going to want to run the engine hard during testing of all modes of operation. You don't want to take a vehicle to a tuner that has an oiling problem. You chance windowing the block. So, sort the oil pressure problem first.

The idle drop could have something to do with the light coming on.

it does but im not sure if the sensor would cause that problem.. im thinking either my clutch is almost done wich i doubt because it holds power. oil pump, oil pick up screen. im just hoping its nothing really bad. its only have 60k miles and always fresh oil every 3k so im confused at the moment. i dont even drive her no more

ill post more videos later and see if you guys can help me out .. thanks

Writing to the forum never fixed anything. You need to get out the wrenches. For starters, change the oil pressure switch.

Which problem? The light? Yes. The idle? No.

So to recap:

Can the light come on from a low idle condition? Yes. You would need to find out why the idle is dropping.
It would need to drop really low, though. Low enough to not build oil pressure (our light only comes in if we're pretty much at 0psi LOL). If it's dropping that low while taking off from a stop, learn to drive and your problem will be solved. LOL

If the idle is dropping because of a mechanical issue, then start trouble shooting. Logging with EvoScan or swapping in known working parts would probably be quickest.

Can the light come on from a bad sensor? Yes. Then replace the sensor.

Do work, son! And good luck.

My oil light comes on if I do that and let the rpms dip below 500. Use throttle when you let the clutch. The rpm's shouldn't be going that low anyways.

He says a CEL for p0300 has been on for 2 years. Maybe it really is a misfire.

Ok. But the misfire isn't causing the oil light, nor is it likely that it needs a pressure switch. He needs to fix the misfire, and then keep the rpms up when he's leaving from a stop

Agreed. My Evo has done exactly what the OP says his does from new. It spooked me the first time but its only when I'm careless when leaving from a stop and don't feed in enough throttle. I can't imagine a four banger that can leave from a stop without giving it some throttle and not have the RPMs drop.
