Im on mission to get my 2003 gsr evo 8 on a big diet . my goal is to get the car down to 2500-2600 lbs with out me in it while retaining full interior appearance , factory brembos and power steering. Do you guys think is possible ?



this is what i've done so far including light weight parts. my car is getting the short block built so i can't drive it to the scale yet and I'm so anxious to know more or less how much it's going to weight.

1. Front and Rear crash beams removed
2. Ac system removed including the heater and all the crap behind the dash .
3. crash bar behind the dash modified by removing all the unnecessary brackets.
4. metal brackets behind the kick panel removed
5.sound deadening removed
6.carpet padding removed and windshield washer tank and hose
7.All seat belts removed except driver side . ALL airbags removed
8. removed all connectors from wiring harness that i don't use ,rear speakers removed
9. metal tube lines under the car removed
10. canister and egr system removed
11. Buschur mustache bar and brackets
12. Buschur front crossmember bar
13.torque solution mounts
14. EVO rs case
15.carbon driveshaft
16. stm d2 coilovers
17. giro disc light rotors front and rear
18. aluminum lug nuts
18. wedsports tc105n
19.removed engine bay fire wall padding also removed the one behind dash .
2-.gutted trunk
21. side exit exhaust
22. 2 front nrg carbon seats
23. org steering wheel with billet hub no airbags
24.front bumper has all removed metal bracket in the back not all but some .
25. abs system removed with the stm delete kit.
26. power steering coolant lines removed goes straight to rack ,
27. lithium small battery kit with stm tray .
28 removed steering column plastic Metal Insert
29. brake shields removed
30. no wing
31. koyo half size radiator with fan

That is a very tall order. My car in almost the same trim as yours is 2800lbs wet. To cut 200lbs more would be a mission. For me the only stuff left to do is cf trunk, plexiglass windows, tubular front sub frame. But all that might only shave another 50-80lbs. Also switch to a fuel cell.

I've read the thread where stm rs with full interior ,brembos and ac weights in at 2700lbs . im here scratching my head . your car is 2800LBS with you in it.

Did you cut out the inside of your door panels? I know some people do that.

Front and rear wipers and motors?
The metal exhaust heat shields?

My car is 2804 with out me, and 3/4 tank of E85.


I am also running a full size optima battery, and ACD, steel trunk and oem wing.


So how STM got to 2700lbs is amazing to me. They must have some black magic going on.


So I could see getting down into the 2700 even range, with ACD Removal, CF Trunk no wing, small battery, fuel cell, half radiator, front tubular sub frame, rear sub frame.

I didn't cut inside on the door . Rear wiper is completely removed I have a rs back glass. all heat shields gone .

the optima battery will save you like 28 lbs if you replace with a small lithium , acd removal will save you like 14 lbs including the brackets , the acd tcase weights like 12 lbs more than the rs tcase. Emery from stm posted a pic in his STREET rs with brembos,ac and full interior right at 2700 lbs . How he did it ? I have no clue.
