Woodpecker noise coming from trans/transfer case area Help!! please

getting a weird noise coming from my evo 8. does it between 2k to 4k rpms and when wot. checked the car for anything hitting and found nothing. its driving me crazy. also clutch goes blank sometimes don't know if that helps. thank you guys

If its not the boost solenoid activating.


Narrow down the area of noise.
Determine it is in engine side or transmission side.
Since your complaining of a clutch issue it could be the springs in the clutch disk have broken or fell out.

Regardless if it is coming from bellhousing area the transmission should be removed to inspect.

Disk
Pressure plate
Throw out bearing

Pressure plate or clutch disc getting ready to fall apart possibly ?
It's in the driveline for sure, it isn't lifter tick

yeap is in the driveline, its not associated with the motor. i double check around the motor just in case. thank you for the response i appreciate man

How could you be certain it's not the motor? If free-reving it has nothing to do with the clutch.

i figured out thank you to 4b11slayer it was the boost solenoid. thank you everyone for their input. have a good new years eve. i love this forum
