Replaced my alternator in about 45mins.

I haven't had a starter or alternator failure in many years. It used to be (and maybe still is) that a parts house in this city repaired automotive starters and generators. For fifty to seventy dollars the unit came back with new parts and a new paint job. Easily a DIY project but they had test equipment that insured you were getting a working return.
I was in there one time with a failed starter and they tried to sell me a reman saying they might not have parts. So, I started naming all the parts in this starter, having them look them up, and they had everything in stock including the case. So, I said fix it.
I've been reading these forums since 1992 and I've yet to read of anyone availing themselves of this service. It is always new or reman.
