oil spray on start up

So it happens every time I start her up to drive out the garage, the black oil spray on the garage door or floor. The car has only done 70,000 Ks and compression is good and it blows no smoke out while driving. I’veseen other threads where everyone says yeh mine does it too, but really why does it do this, does oil pool on the pistons or in the turbo when standing a period of time?

It's from the turbo. These engines have a lot of crank pressure on cold start, and the exhaust isn't hot enough on cold start to burn the oil that gets pushed past the gas rings in the turbo. I would look into upgrading your crank case ventilation setup. There is a lengthy sticky thread in the engine section.

It's not oil, it's soot from running too rich on a cold start.

A stock car has a catalytic converter. Dump oil into a catalytic converter and it stops working. The maker wouldn't want the engine dumping oil into the catalytic converter at every startup.

The major products of combustion are water and CO2. Water leaves the engine as vapor but condenses into liquid in a cold exhaust. Most mufflers have a small hole at the bottom to let water run out. Water mixed with carbon forms a black oil looking substance. If it really is oil something is wrong.

True. Is it oil, or the carbon water?
