Knock issue.

Hello. First, if this thread is in the wrong section, please redirect me to the right one. Second, any and every input is greatly appreciated. On to the issue. My car has knock. 36 knock to be exact. My tuner/builder claims this issue was ongoing prior to me getting my Brian Crower 280 cams installed. It just highlighted it, he says. So the engine got torn apart. He deleted my balance shaft with the kit and claimed that would fix it. Sadly not. So now we are at a lost. Any ideas what it could be? I got a brand new water pump, knock sensor, headstuds, valve springs, everything internal. So I don't know what could be causing this. Thanks in advance.

Do you have logs of the knock?
Who tuned/built the car?

The tuner and builder are both local. They're just people who I work with. My builder works specifically on evos for 10 years plus he has 2 himself and has an 8 sec drag evo too. So I trust him. The tuner is his friend, don't know him personally. I don't have logs of the knock.

Just a local guy. He's tuned my car before multiple times no problem until now with the knock.

Without logs I don't think anyone will be much help.

You can try checking around the engine bay for loose items that may cause false knock, exhaust hitting oil pan, ect

See attached
So, my builder believes he found the culprit. One of my pistons had a small chunk missing. Supposedly, someone before me tried to fix the engine and replaced the valves, but not the pistons. Which then caused valve slap and the need for new rod and main bearings. Comes Monday, my short block will get assembled and hopefully it can finally run.
