Subaru STI on the outside, Mitsubishi Evo on the inside.

Hey there, considering the insane costs of replacing most Mitsubishi's Evolutions body panels, headlights and so on. I think a Subaru body and interior with a Mitsubishi AWD system would be great. I don't know how far what would be worth doing though. The engine can be done as well as the transmission maybe even use the new Subie MT 6 Speed that is supposed to be really good if possible but I don't know much about mating Japanese car transmissions. I know you can mate a VW transmission to classic Porsches with just some mill work and save $8000 as that's what my doctor did but what about vehicles that use CV joints?

I just want a car that I can beat up in the Rally and RallyCross events, without being forced to drive around in a dented in Evo with some weird poorly matched headlight set up

I already punished my Evo 7 GTA on rallycross, never again but the automatic made for great lap times! Unless I buy a skid plate (anyone know where?)

Is there anyway to get all or more performance I get from my Evo including an engine that I can push to 400hp without worry from a good combination that doesn't take wayyy to much shop time? My other idea is just zip tying Subaru exterior parts to my Evolution with a blanket in-between to protect the Evo.

I want to continue being in the AWD class and I want an AWD system like the Evolution 7/8 or newer has unless just going full mechanical with 30+ plates is actually better. Is there ways to control those plates via cockpit like how we have gravel tarmac and snow settings?

Of all the ideas, this one is the worst.

Why not just buy a Subaru? Buy an older 2.0 if you're worried about the 2.5 motors.

Lol, buying a Subaru is definitely an option but I am curious if mechanical aftermarket differentials are better than what a JDM Evo has. I don't think I would bother installing a 4G63 unless I found one for much less than rebuild an entire EJ25. I am just curious what it really takes for a Subaru to become way better than an Evo when it comes to racing dirt and also tarmac. It is something that my friend might consider doing to his next project Subaru and I will be the one doing most of the research. Not really something that people love to see but I mean people have even installed 2JZ motors into their brand new Rolls Royce because of how much they love the engine. Even the STI boxer engine is not forged and can barely handle the power it has stock. Not to mention even the manual transmissions seem to go quite easily. Another option would be a Audi 2.0T Quattro drive terrain but that motor would have to be rebuilt as well if you wanted 300hp.

It's all just theoretical and up in the clouds if it wasn't already obvious. Kind of up there with my diesel Jeep idea.

Are the 2.0L EJ's forged or something?

I think the short answer to your question is "packaging concerns"

There are a lot of different 2.0L EJs. For instance the EJ205 and the EJ207 are radically different. And they've changed over the years.

I will be the one doing most of the research.

The 6-speed in the STI is an awesome transmission, far better than either the 5 or 6 speed that came in the Evos.

Agreed.

But the 5 speed in the WRX was made out of wet paper towels with Doritos Synchro technology.
