You should advertise it in Canada

I wonder if the guy posting above was quoting USD or Canadian.
That's a lot of money to be paying for an old STI with the same EJ25 engine...and likely with some ringland failure on the way soon! I tried vegan, couldn't do it brother. Just not me. Need the protein haha.

Bought my 05 Evo 8 with clean title, lightly modded via AMS Performance entry kit back in 2012 with 52k for $16.5k from a kid in Philly that needed to pay some student loans. Now it's got 81k on it, no mods. Same everything as in the pic above except I added the enkei RPF1. Likely will never sell it. Just love it too much!

Two things I'll pay because the juice is worth the squeeze: High meat prices and high state taxes (CA). You gotta pay to play LOL

Yeah, 8yrs ago prices were better than now... $16.5k then is probably about right, considering that is probably a higher number in "today's dollars". Fair deal, right there. $18.5k or so in 2020, maybe? I'm not sure how many motivated buyers there are for Evos, these days, with deep pockets. All the people I know looking to spend more than $20-25k for a car are looking for something newer/faster out of the box. The ones that aren't seem to be younger kids that honestly can't afford to pay much more. With CA clamping down on smog rules, it's becoming even more so; we're all getting too old to f**k with smogging a modded car. There are outliers, so gotta be patient enough to wait on finding one. The Evo is just in a weird place. And now that the cars ECUs have to be stock, to pass smog in CA, that is gonna put a hurt on the market here. Hopefully the ECU gurus find a way to fool the new smog tests.

Facebook groups for selling EVOs and parts are such garbage. It seems like there's nothing but bad people ripping people off and scamming. Happens all the time. You see a lot of rollers going for $5k, mid range evos, and then all done up ones for $25+

Guess we shall see what people think this thing is worth.

Lowest 9 was sold on BaT for $13.5 and the highest was $39,501. The median is somewhere in the low to mid 20s for a well advertised car
The car just sold for $38,250

Yeah the community is definitely weird. You know what's strange, back in the day (speaking like we're old or something haha) the suburu guys used to hate us. Now...i get thumbs up from more subi guys more than ever. So in that aspect, its kind of nice because they're realizing its a rare breed of cars that's no longer in production (unless you include the electric SUV coming out?)

On the contrary, I live in Northern Virginia and i see ZERO evo's. I go a cars and coffee every now and then here at Kate's C&C and I'm the only evo amongst a pool of just high-end and vintage cars. You go to a car meet and it's a bunch of old ragged civic and waterboys with a few muscle cars and lifted trucks. Again, no fun.

So i've kinda of resorted to just doing my own thing. I feel like the "OG" evo guys were largely past DSM guy who have upgraded. And yeah, the market is the thin for sure. Most kids can't afford these cars. And most people who can afford it dont want to mess with a 4G63 when they can buy something else newer and ready to roll out of the box and usually with a warranty. Hence again, these will likely go down to being classics and the die-hard enthusiasts. The tuner community realizes this too. Whenever i buy oil and/or filters i never take the evo bc i can't leave the parking lot without someone wanted to nag and talk about your/their car comparisons.

Oh, I'm old. Lol
I agree. I can see those of us left as being die-hards like the R32 GTR people. You have to REALLY love a 25-30yo car to pay $30k for it
I'm perpetually on the fence about selling. I don't do track days like I used to, which is the reason I built it. I have another car to take to meets and cruises.
It really doesn't serve a purpose for me, any more, other than taking my insurance money. LOL
I do love the car. It's the quickest I've ever owned and has been reliable, other than some silly mistakes I've made with it. It's hard to sell something you've put so much time and effort into.
Will the following generations have the demand to keep prices up? I don't know.
If they they remain solid or even go up, it's going to have to be due to a small group of people buying and selling amongst each other lielike the Supra guys.
For every person that thinks were crazy for selling these for anything less than $50k, there's someone out there selling at $16k.
It's fun to watch, that's for sure. I do think NOW may be the best time for me to sell, though.

I'm not helping. I drive mine to/from autocrosses and occasionally to work if it's been a few weeks. Maybe I should try the C&C thing one of these days.

I'm 33. And that's kinda old I think for owning something like this. I feel like tuner car fan bases are a lot younger. I'm not really in the "in" scene anymore with the bag suspension and slanted wheels and all. Pains me to see someone ruin an evo for aesthetics that doesn't do anything or benefit the car.

To be honest, now is probably a good time I'd say if you want max bucks. Fan base around this car is going to be smaller and smaller. No one's really going to pay 30K+ for an evo even if it is built when they can easily get a new car that'll do the same. Especially if they're not original Evo enthusiasts. Main-stream media is what I think drive up car values. F&F was a great example. After that movie everyone wanted a 2G Eclipse. It brought the Supra and even the S2K and civic into the spotlight. Back to the Future was another one. No one would want a Delorean if it wasn't for Michael Fox in Back to the Future.

Now here's the kicker. F&F series. I don't think they're going to showcase another Evo. It just doesn't make sense from a marketing perspective. Also, in the F&F movie, they had an evo but it wasn't a main role car so there was less attention for it. Not to say media is everything but I'd say it sure does help propel the car image and scene for future generations. So many people payed tribute to Paul Walker when he passed bc that film brought them closer to cars and drew it in an audience for whatever specific car they were interested in.

I think we're somewhat entering the golden age for the Evo. All cars have this sort of phase I think. Initially they're expensive as hell where no one could buy one. Prices start to drop as the car depreciates. People and kids and retards get their hands on them and wreck them. Lower supply. People have a sudden change of opinion, and whoever is left holding them are like unicorns. But even unicorns die though and there reaches a point where the audience for these things just diminish. Right now, there's still quite a bit of attention because indirectly, the STI and even Focus RS is helping light that candle for the Evo. Just my 0.02 that's all. For me, I've never tracked my evo it's always been a fun car to drive on the weekends and tinker around with occasionally. Evo parts are so expensive nowadays that it's hard to do anything on them without dropping money in the thousands for realizable gains in power/torque.

It's been weird seeing the demographic change over the last 15 years. It's either EVO enthusiasts or trash Honda owners that saved up their money. There's no in between.

we're still here, i just don't drive the evo to NoVA anymore. For me it's that my priorities change too and so i don't have much time to waste on car time with other evo owners. I'm down to meet up though!
