Once upon a time, I saw a post on the site with a 4G63 timing cover off. The person had designed a little tool that fits between the cam-gears. It was 3D printed. This holds the 2 cams in alignment when the timing belt is off if any work is being done. Does anyone know where I can download an STL file or model of this? I want to print one on the 3d printer I have access to that prints in high strength carbon fiber fortified filament.

you do not need carbon fiber/abs nonsense for this... pla will work fine to hold your cam gears in place

Funny thing is, I have my own 3d printer and we have 2 of them at work. In all of my experience printing things I have never used PLA (which apparently is most common). 99% of the time I print using ABS or PC-ABS, but at work carbon fiber is free and it is ridiculously strong.

ah... in that case if you've got it dialed in and what not for that material... props to you and respect for having awesome gear...

i just wanted to point out that it's not needed... pla is just easy to work with for a lot of the 3d printing community...

me personally... i'm stuck using abs because i built the enclosure for it... i've done the upgrades.. now everything's in abs till i switch off to something else lol

I'm sure you know much more about it than I do. I didn't have to dail anything in because my company spent nearly $200,000 on printers that "do the setup & thinking for you" lol. I had to learn a little bit to make ABS work on my lulzbot taz 6 at home. I am very lucky to be spoiled with the ability to do this- I realize that. I rarely ever use my personal printer because I am at work for long hours and it is just easy to do it there. I did my most headlight parts at work (if you are interested in seeing them).

Its interesting to see your approach to this. I was wondering why it couldnt be printed lengthwise? That way there would only be a raft at minimum to print it out.

Great point!

The way my printer is setup... Printing this on its back didn't like going across for that "cup" area... Printing it standing worked best for me and quickest
