Is this just paint chipping from heat or should I be worried?

The paint itself doesnt look too bad. But if thats the metal under the paint that looks kinda melted, i would at least pull the cover to see if there is anything going on underneath. The cover gaskets are cheap anyway.

I have seen this on a number of high mileage Evos. The coating is wearing out. I think it's due to prolonged heat exposure.

Yup nothing to be worried about, I've seen this plenty of times on other evos. If it bothers you then repaint it
