Prices haven't hit this level though. This is a strange outlier.

It can't even be registered anywhere (maybe a few places), who is buying this car? Smart money collectors want original examples. Nostalgia mid life crisis wants to street to cars and coffee. I just can't figure out who is buying this car.

Give it time. Muscle cars of the millennial/gran tourismo generation. People said the same thing about american muscle cars at some point. Once everything is EV, it will only help the case.

I dunno, I see a lot of risk in the future for ICE vehicles as an investment. Flash forward to expensive AF gasoline, colonoscopy level smog inspections, social stigma, etc and I don't know how much demand there will be for these old, slow, noisy, expensive to operate vehicles.

Look at northern Europe. Very high taxes, congestion charges, heavily subsidized - all have Tesla. I have sold 63 Land Yatchs from 50s-60s to customers last 31 months. Its a huge subculture people daily drive tesla and very wealthy on weekends driving a 65 Caddy Deville etc with $12+ gallon of gas

Same thing in the Land Cruiser community. DD is a Porsche Taycan - weekend car is a $200k FJ62.

Thats the future. The expensive to operate vehicles will be status symbols …

An Evo as a status symbol. That would be entertaining to see.

P.S. what good does it do to have somebody on an ignore list when you just have to read their crap when somebody quotes it, anyway?

Investments for some, garage ornament to tinker with and play for others. In any case as millennials get older/richer and want to feel young, it will inevitably happen. Just hope we end up with the equivalent of a Yearone classic car parts for old japanese cars by then.

Depends on how climate change plays out. If things really go to **** it could be seen as distasteful to flaunt ones wealth in such a display. You are already seeing places planning for I.C.E. free zones as well. They could become the new cigarettes, you can't operate them within a certain distance of schools/hospitals/retirement homes etc etc etc.

Things could play out differently. E-fuels could really take off etc. It just seems pretty risky to me.

I'd never buy a car for nor hold it as an investment. Keep it 20 years so I can triple my money? That's a horrible way to spend my money AND my time.
I'll let someone else do that. I'd rather be enjoying things now. Life's short.
