Yep. It's just fun to revisit old threads to see how things have turned out. Reading the old parts would lead you to believe a 2003 Evo with 100K miles would be with about $75k, by now.

I never saw that auction I would have bought the silver car for that price.

it seems they’ve corrected a little bit , BaT is odd when cars are listed more than once.

also, I always always thought the IX MR looked best in Rally Red. I’ve been waiting for a stock sub 20k RR MR to come up, even a GSR. They never do. Was RR a low production # in 06?

BaT is slowly being exposed for the fraud that it mostly is and I'm glad. That s#!t was frustrating.

EVOS look phenomenal in red. I've always owned white....but definitely wouldn't say "no" to RR

I tried searching old posts, but struggled to find info. Any idea if the 06 evo, esp MR, was a car you could "order" or did Mitsu build and allocate like Toyota does. Is there any Mitsu derived prod #'s by color for 06 across all trims? A sub 5k mile, 2006 MR in red would be a lifetime trophy car. I also had adverts out for a 05 or 07 STI, under 10,000 miles, with a 3k + finder fee and heard nothing. Was offered a 1.4k mile 04 in blue gold, don't like the 04's, still offered more than all time BaT covid record for one, and the guy changed his mind last second. Better for me, because I don't like that year, but yeah.....my friends tell me to buy a Z06/ZR1/997 etc, but when I was young and had no money i would go to the dealers after hours and drool on the lots at these cars new. I got a driver quality evo a while ago, from the OG owner , but it is a driver and nothing more unfortunately. Nice to take to grab breakfast or brunch weekend mornings.

That's a lot to unpack but I'll stick with the original question:
If I'm not mistaken, there is a thread, somewhere on this form, where somebody tried to find production numbers. They made a certain amount of each. I don't remember anything being all that rare. Just different colors that people liked.
Good luck finding an Evo with low miles, though. With as relatively cheap as they were, people bought them and enjoyed them.

Yea but most of the evos in that range didn't meet reserve. I don't think BaT prices mean anything much but offers seem to be down the last few months for the entire Japanese collector market. What does this mean? again, nothing, could be economic, inflation, cost of living. Most of these offers aren't high enough and the owners simply holds onto the car. That's what prices do they go up they go down then up again as time passes they will just get higher, much higher. Its simple economics.

Prices arent coming back down, just not happening. All the big time cars we know of used to be easily accessible to people, that's nothing new and that's also what makes high quality examples very rare. Owners of these cars and others have already seen what prices could reach and what comparable era/performance cars are going for. Whats the saying about once you see the potential of something going back is isn't an option? Also ultra rarity surprisingly doesnt play too big a part in prices, we've seen that with cars like the 911 and s2k and the evo 8/9 has much lower production numbers than those, check again the evo 8, especially 9 is actually a pretty low production car. The golden spot of production numbers imo.
