2006 Evo Values
^I'm currently waiting on a new radiator fan motor that I was told would arrive late November
After my 9 was hit by a drunk driver last November it was pretty clear that the lack of parts availability would inevitably lead it to being totaled. Thankfully, I'm pretty damn savvy when it comes to finding used parts and found a donor car for the fender, doors and quarter panel to get it all fixed. Living in CA also helped a lot. You need to be resourceful and patient to own these cars.
Based on my experience with both cars and from what people have told me that have owned both, you are going to have so much more fun with the older platform. Even if the Evo 10 were a better car, it's just not the same as having the "classic" body style.
The only, and I mean only downside that I can find, is finding OEM parts is becoming Almost impossible.
Hopefully those that decide to restore these cars can continue to do so.
I never see them on the road anymore, but I would like for that to change.

Yeah...
Definitely not like it's a classic car, or something, where there are reproduction parts. Towards the end of my ownership I was having a lot of trouble finding parts. Like, a lot..
It's going to come down to relying on people to produce their own aftermarket parts.

People who thought the Evo market was cooling don't get it. It's not cooling - the supply is running thin and you're getting a gap between the Evos that were beat on and modded by multiple owners vs the Evos that were taken care of, not over-modded, and have a low body count. I don't think there were more than 3,000 MRs brought over in 2006, not sure what the numbers on the 8 was but it's not going to be huge.

The Evo is a model that's hard to beat. Last of the analog cars, very modable, easy to work on, and rare. I call it the 4-dr Supra. Objectively, it's arguably the better car of the two.
It will be a highly sought-after car. It's too good to not be.

Hey my peeps, been out of the loop, not selling anytime soon, trying to figure out my car's value. 2006 GG Evo IX MR SE, original owner, 6900 miles, 500 AWHP on 110, built by AMS Performance. Original stock motor. California car with 0 rust.
I'm in a process of getting it insured with collector's car insurance and on initial quote I put a value of $45k. After doing a little research I figured that it's worth more, but talking with underwriter and asking for 60k they said that 45k is consistent with market.
Got a quote from a different company asking for $60k. They approved it no questions asked. Help the fellow Evo owner.

just use Hagerty. Pretty much name your value, and they’ll cover it with just a few images of the car and supporting documents of all upgrades, title, etc, you’re good.
@reno2555 If I was selling your car as a private seller, my bottom line would probably be ~$55K today, mainly because of the low miles and I'm assuming it is in excellent condition. I have a feeling that Evo values (for the ones that are in excellent condition and close to stock, low miles) are going to go up sharply. It's funny reading the comments on BaT about the doomers several years ago saying that Evos selling for $38-$40K was just a fluke and "the prices are gonna crash next year"...reality is more like:
2020 A general interest in Evos perked up and you could sell one for 20-25K pretty easy.
2021 people got their trumpbucks and were paid to stay home, Evos were fetching high 20s to mid 30s.
2022 People re-realized how awesome the Evo is due to tubers and prices went from mid 30s to low 40s.
2023 Availability of clean, low-mile Evos dwindles quickly. Many people were "waiting for the prices to crash". Median prices stable mid 40s to mid 50s.
2024 Surely this year the few remaining Evos will be going for 30-40K again, right?
