Hey my peeps, been out of the loop, not selling anytime soon, trying to figure out my car's value. 2006 GG Evo IX MR SE, original owner, 6900 miles, 500 AWHP on 110, built by AMS Performance. Original stock motor. California car with 0 rust.
I'm in a process of getting it insured with collector's car insurance and on initial quote I put a value of $45k. After doing a little research I figured that it's worth more, but talking with underwriter and asking for 60k they said that 45k is consistent with market.
Got a quote from a different company asking for $60k. They approved it no questions asked. Help the fellow Evo owner.
With the mods I'd say that quote is pretty close. As mentioned above, I have two cars with Haggerty. They asked a few questions and asked for a picture of each. Agreed values of $70k on both. What happens should I ever need to try collecting? Who knows LOL. But I'm paying $180 per month for both cars. Hard to beat that.
I appreciate everyone's comments. I beleive 70k is the fair value today. And I'm talking about insured value, not what what it would sell for. Hagerty was the first company I got the quote from and for some reason unknown to me it was thru the roof (45k value they quoted 5.5k a year). NCM was the best. The funniest thing is, 70k is a little less than what I have in my car. I was lucky enough to buy mine in 2007 under MSRP ($33.9k). Mind you, in 2006 MRs were going for 8k over sticker. Then another 35k went into parts and labor. And that's in 07-08 dollars. So I barely brake even today. And only because of low miles. I could of gotten a GTR instead but Evo is very special car and I fell in love with it. I had many high performace cars throughout my life and nothing gets me high as Evo does.
I was a little surprised that nobody called me out on the numbers I posted. 500 AWHP doesn't sound much in today's world but the fact that the motor is stock ( only head was modded with Forced Performance 4R camshaft} makes it unbelievably reliable. My cousin's Evo had the same level of mods and he sold it with 40k miles and it was still going strong. And he was driving wheels off of it. If you guys care to watch, I'll post a video below of my cousin driving my Evo very first time we went out to Buttonwillow ( it was re-paved after that so times are not what they are today) but DAMN!!!
From 2008 before I did AMS turbo kit:
The car is a 2006 EVO IX MR. It has 4500 miles on it. Stock motor, stock turbo, stock cams, stock uicp, stock......
The only mods done to the car were:
AMS lower cross brace with solid mount AMS moustache bar eliminator AMS small battery kit AMS brake master cyl brace AMS TBE w/ high flow cat AMS Brake Duct kit AMS MBC AEM Gauges (A/F, Boost) 255lph fuel pump
Exedy Stage 2 clutch
KW variant 2 coilovers
255 Kumho tires
I appreciate everyone's comments. I beleive 70k is the fair value today.
Your Evo given the mileage would be anywhere from 70k-90k. It depends on finding the right buyer.

Yea plenty of shops cracked the forumla for big power on the platform by then. Now Evo builds like that would venture past 650+hp with OEM like reliability and drivability.
Sounds like a top dollar EVO of BaT quality. If Obsessed Garage's stock 05 3,900 mile MR sold for $76k last year, this car is close depending on condition. I got a quote this month from Hagerty for $656/year @ $30k value on a higher mileage 03.

Well bought or well sold? Total weight on the corner balance also seems way too light at 3,178lbs considering the curb weight of a stock MR is 3,285
Id say everyone did fine here considering inflation and current market softening.
My 2003 sunroof car weighed 3136 last time it was on the scales. Longacre I believe.
Config plays a role here. My car had 1/3 tank of gas and everything removed from trunk. Floormats removed. Basically the config id run at the track, except with more fuel.
I've been thinking about selling mine. 2006 IX SE with about 110k miles. I'm the third owner and got it stock. Now has downpipe, test pipe, catback, LICP, Spoolinup COP and a few other minor bolt-ons. Runs great, just working through a minor starting/grounding issue right now.
Cold/Heat needs to be manually switched underneath the dash, knobs do not work. Also has some minor hail damage on the hood/roof and the driver fender needs a little work. Other than that no issues really.
I've had the car for almost three years and have only put about 5-6k miles on it. I just don't have the time to drive and enjoy the car like I have hoped to. Part of me wants to keep hanging onto it and keep fixing and restoring it hoping it'll keep appreciating in value but another part of me says it's getting time to let go and move on. I feel like realistically this could be a $25-30k car depending on what I address or decide to sell it more as it sits.

All imports from this era are/will go "up". Financial investment worthy up? No. No car is. Based on current market the evo 9 will surely double in value in 10 years but that just makes me want to hold onto mine because im never leaving this hobby. By then everything else with high status from this golden tuner era will be close to the same prices but im in it for the cars. I will just keep adding to my garage. The question is what is the car/being in the racing world worth to YOU. Also can you afford it and if the the answer is yes to both I say keep it. For me the evo 9 is my absolute dream car and the opportunity to own these cars are getting alot smaller by the year so its no brainer for me. If you do sell the issues are definitely worth addressing and you can get above 30k easily. Its a beautiful car just needs alittle restoring.
2006 IX MR SE with Buschur exhaust, intake, downpipe, and tune to about 315hp/300lbs last I checked. Oh, and some AEM gauges replacing the stock MR ones. 117k miles. Clean title, stock everything else (including the 6 speed). Obviously it'd be worth a lot more with fewer miles, but I was hoping it might be worth 30k-35k. IF I were to ever sell it.
trust me I know. If you are in love with these cars like I am; just keep it and enjoy it !
I hear you. I really do. But despite getting a new job that pays pretty well I'm STILL not rich and STILL have a mortgage haha if I ever want a shot at something new and shiny selling the evo is my only practical way of getting there. Plus, I'm the original owner of my 2006. So I've had this car nearly 20 years. There's this nagging, OCD, anxiety-fueled feeling that I should sell her while she's still close-to-stock and under 120k miles.
Wow ! Wish I didn’t sell mines. Now I’m stuck with a higher mileage one and building the motor!
lol
I hear ya on new and shiny. The only thing that I’d consider (I’m not rich either) is the GR Corolla. And them ****s is still expensive compared to a running used evo.
I bought a 2006 MR couple years ago. Now I just purchased an Evo X SE to daily drive. I’m obsessed and I don’t plan to sell either lol
