burning up starters
Ok so here goes. So since my work has decided to cut my hrs all my bonus that I so graciously got is now depleted from bills, property taxes etc. So long story short car is still on e85 well e75 according to the ic7 but my turck needed gas. So I drove the evo to work no big deal. Get my Friday done come home and now its time to put fuel in the evo. I get in it this morning to go to the gas station and of course doesn't wanna start. 17 degrees here in Michigan and as all of you guys know e85 no likey cold. So I try to start it 2 more times and the the starter hisses at me basically saying **** you. This is the 4th or 5th starter that I have put in this car, wtf is killing them? I am not over cranking or anything but this is getting annoying. Anyone have any ideas?

probably the downpipe. I just broke one too. the last one make a braack sound after fill up and leaving the gas station and started one more time on my drive way and its done for. it actuates but wont spin. this is the 2nd time I've put back my backup starter. I have fixed my slow cranking issue and starts fine early morning with e85 so I'm not sure... I only have starters bought on ebay, looks like from the same manufacturer. I ordered another one

I have a buddy who parts out evos and 3000gts. I have got all my starters from him. I am prob going to get one from stm. I rather get something new rather then something I have no idea about.

hey if your struggling starting the car on cold mornings + e85, see if the HD relay solution would help you. I'm now just running with a $50 battery and no problem starting on 45 degree early mornings

Your definitely right, but when your in a pinch and maybe strapped for cash a 50 dollar starter same day gets the job done. I am definitely going to buy a new one this time though for sure being like you said you just don't know the history of the starters at that point.
I am unfamiliar with the hd relay solution whats that? Problem was with mine it was 18 outside and more of a cold start thing.
Yeah that was the plan for this weekend being I haven't had time to really look at it. I have a nasty sinus infection so I am home this weekend from the gf's house so that was what I was going to do but now I need a starter
Mine's FG and reflective heat wrapped too. I'm considering adding another layer of heatshielding on the starter side. ya never know.
