It might be for my wife though. Been trying to convince her for a while, good excuse for an automatic. I've watched all the Jackie Ding stuff, hell I'm even watching the 2021 Supra on Bring a Trailer in another tab right now. I'm still skeptical though.
not an easy decision, especially if you don't like the ahole look j/k. I'll be checking out GRC forums. To me what makes the evo a great car is it has space for an extra set of wheels
Make sure that your coolant lines to your throttle body are reattached before you go to the smog shop. They will look at coolant lines, PCV, EVAP, EGR, and the obvious non-rusty parts parts. Cast Iron Rust = good for BAR/CARB technicians. It's their comfort food.

That's nuts that they would care about looped coolant lines, but I'm not entirely surprised. It's the same state where we're not allowed to use opposable thumbs to reach the safety on a rifle.
They never found the BBs I had in the EGR hoses, nor did they think anything of the unusual amount of silicone smothered over my strangely swole EGR gasket. But that was years ago, same shop got too scared to even smog Evos because they got fined so I started getting assistance elsewhere.

Mine is for sale, if you are looking for a CA car.
Folks, I thought it would be cool and interesting to post a datalog of the stock IX tune running a 2.3L engine. The car was mostly stock at the time except for the following mods: turbo back exhaust, walbro 450, built head with stock cams, TF06-18k turbo. It is neat that the car did not run lean or knock excessively while running on this tune (Since it's a different engine).. In fact, it cruised exceptionally well. During the WOT pull, you can tell that the stock injectors were maxed out, but we can get a good idea of what the car likes to do under factory parameters for WGDC and AFRs per boost level on the stock 2.0L tune with the 2.3L. Interested to know if anybody can run a 2.4l with the stock tune.
Sounds right. The ECU should really be able to keep desired parameters for an extra 300cc, during cruising loads. I'm surprised it kept up as well as it did under boost with that turbo.
Cool info, thanks for sharing.
That's a rough life, I dont want to go back to that I frequently miss my renewal inspection since my car usually breaks something serious around Sep to Nov

That's a bummer. What's next on your fix it list? I'm on the fence about just using my spare 2.4LR and seeing what happens or just pushing this 2.3l until it no longer starts. The funny thing about having to go back to stock every three years is that it keeps me looking for more upgrades .
Texas started to allow registration renewals with no annual inspection as long as the car is not used over 60days per year. I just learned about this while my car was 4months overdue waiting for the 2.2l. Before that inspections were actually getting easier, just legal tint checks if they need to look to be doing their jobs. Coming from the NY Metro area, I can't complain

Score one for Texas. How do they know how much you've driven the car? Also, for California people, I know somebody who has a low-mileage catalytic converter, if anyone needs one. Came off an Evo 9 with 50,000 miles. It's illegal to sell used converters, but I'm sure you guys can work out something.
