Is this normal?

just a question:

for the past few months during the winter, I've always gotten a steady 19-20 psi at WOT. Today while driving home i noticed I could only reach 16-17 at WOT.
Is this because the temp today was pretty hot and humid about 80~. ? and the hotter air is more expanded therefore less volume= less psi?

Or should I be looking into this as something might not be working correctly?

Thanks!

also, the vacumn pressure with no throttle was always about 20. today i noticed it going down as far as 25?? wth?

For how long have you had the lower boost(16-17 PSI) at WOT??
Since today?

Maybe a bad tank and the ecu is pulling timing and boost?

Your upper intercooler pipe could also be loose. Check that.

Just some wild guesses

try tightening the clamps on your blow off valve and every other clamp that you can find. A lot of them are loose coming from the factory.

yea.. hmm its hard to say cuz i havent really payed attention to the boost at WOT in a couple days.. i know at least a week ago everything was fine.

but a week we ago my friend and i installed the unorthadox racing underdrive pulley. .i called him up and asked him if he thought that would maybe change something with the ecu resulting in lower boost? but it seems rather unlikely.

yea thanks.. im gonna check all the clamps and see if they are tight.

maybe it's just the temperature, this past winter, when temperatures got lower, people saw a mysterious increase in boost......this is probably just the opposite......cold air=dense=more boost...........hot air=sparse=less boost........just a guess

i have no idea, but I feel your pain...nothing worse than getting less boost than you previously got and not knowing why. I got a hole in my Bushur intercooler and had to put the stock one back on and now I can not get over 1.3 bar. I have a manual boost controller set to 1.5 and was pulling that consistently before. I am hoping that when I get the replacement intercooler from Buschur and install it everything will go back to normal.

Good luck...

Well you're not alone, took my car to the track last week boosted normal around 19-20. I made sure all the hoses were tightened before the track run. Lately at WOT with the tempertures up I've been getting 18.

It's the temps. For the same reasons that you get higher boost in the dead of winter and need to adjust the mbc/ebc lower, the warmer temps will lower boost a bit necessitating another boost controller adjustment.
