Bottom Bolt for Upper Timing Cover Evo 9

Hi guys,

Previous owner put on one of those clear Evo 9 upper timing belt covers. The bolts were almost all gone so I got the 4 proper OEM bolts and all but one go in. It seems like the bottom left bolt has no where to screw into.

Am I missing a piece? The bolt goes through an unthreaded piece from the black lower timing cover but nothing threaded.

Thanks!

Kind of hard to see it in my photo so I will try to upload a video. You can see the black lower cover piece seems to be able to flop around but it’s not threaded. Is it supposed to be able to move around like that?

If you look at this diagram, it sort of looks like you might be missing 02012P? Its hard to say from the picture and I can't open the video right now.

That was my initial thought. How is that installed? I wonder if I would need to remove the lower cover for that to be installed.

Yeam, you are missing that bracket for sure. It does look like you have to at least loosen the lower cover to kind of tip it out of the way at a minimum but it might need to come off completely.

Oh yeah that is it. I have something similar on the right side (front) which the lower right bolt screws into.

Do you know what those 2 bolts mount up to? I get that you would need to lift the lower timing cover to slip that bracket behind but I wonder if I will be able to mount it properly.

I see the two bolt holes in that pic. Thanks for that! Looks like I won’t be replacing this timing cover bolt. It is definitely something to do when doing a timing belt job. I’m not sure why my previous owner removed this darn bracket when he changed the timing belt.
