Goodbye Jetta... Hello Evo

Hello Evo 8 =)

Well, I traded in the car last night on a '03 Evo 8. Two very different cars, but both have their strengths and weeknesses.

Old:

Pulled a 14.2 in the quarter mile. I honestly think I could have eeked out a 13.99999999 if I would have had non-stock tires and more practice. (My 60's were 2.5 )

But... anyway, here's the new one...

MMmmm awd launches

Good choice...my girlfriend there on the left has a Jetta. It’s nice but not that great on performance. I as well have a silver Evo.

You won't regret it! The EVO is a blast, and may be more reliable than your Jetta

No doubt!

I used to be the biggest brand loyalist to VW and Audi. But lately the cars VAG builds are so crappy. I had far more problems with my 2001 Jetta (2nd gear syncro, window regulators, coil packs) than I've ever had with the Evo (NONE!).

bolsen - nice choice man. By the way what mods did you have to your car? The reason I ask is because a buddy of mine has a jetta too, an 03 I believe, and he got a turbo back, intake and a reflashed ECU. He said that that setup should be able to run in the 13's. I personally didn't believe him. He said he may have had about 240HP. Then he drove in my stock Evo and said my car was way faster than his.

Were you on the vortex? I put a tiny vwvortex.com sticker on the evo... just because the VW community was pretty friendly and i still like to give props to the modded dubs in this area.

Yeah, I know what you mean... I have less than 40k on my 2000 Jetta and it has had the 2nd gear syncro messed up ever since I got it (22k), and the damn engine (weak 2.0) burns oil like a 76' pinto!!

My 93' Eclipse was WAY more reliable, even with 93k on the clock...

Anyways, I will only have the Jetta until June or July, then it is on to Evo or STi (can't really go wrong with either).

Bolsen, congrats on the purchase- I envy you!!

Just curious - What kind of deal did you get on the '03 Evo?
