I called Mitsubishi and they told be $90, is that right? I remember I had transmission fluid change at Toyota on my AE86 and it only cost me $16 when I brought my own fluid.

You can do it yourself pretty easily, all you need is a torque wrench and a gear oil pump. runny_yolk did a great writeup in the howto section. I switched to redline MT90 and I swear the shifts are smoother..

nsnguyen: did you go with full mt90 or a mix? i went with full mt90 and i found it hard to get into 1 and 2 and the shifts were harder. i then went with mt90/mtl mix and it was much better.. jsut wanted to see what your thoughts were

hanzo: i paid $20CAD when i brought in my own fluid.. it's two bolts and you just drain it and put the stuff in.. you do need to get that pump though, because there is no way you going to get a funnel up there ..

That sounds about right. I just took my Evo in for a 6000 mile service. I had them flush the tranny/center diff as well as both front and rear diffs plus do an oil change (using my own Mobil 1). Total cost for fluids and labor came out to $150.

I usually do this sort of work myself, but I've been too busy lately. Also, I suppose it's nice to have it in your service history if you ever run into warranty issues.

.. i went with mt-90 redline synthetic at 1200 miles.. shifts like butter.

Do it yourself.. it's not hard at all.

Full MT90 and it really seemed better, I did it in the winter so cold weather shifting seemed much improved.

weird.. i had the exact opposite experience.. cold weather was worst with full mt90 but once it warms up, 3-4-5 shifts were very very good but 1-2 shifts required quite a bit more force.. i talked to redline and they say that the mt90 is almost a race fluid and that it's not really designed for cold weather or running conditions

so i talked to some of the bmw guys who run their m3's on the road tracks and they said they had gear chatter with full MTL and notchy with MT90, and they went with 1:1 mix of MTL:MT90 and they say it's best of both worlds, so that's what I did and it worked wonders

They don't have Automatic Transmission Fluid, but they do have Manual Transmission Fluid. Trust me, I've changed it.
