^ Not dismissing your plight but I'm still on the stock rotors and brake pads. Still good even after SOW. And if your wondering whether I used them or not. After turn 1 its a downhill straight. I was hitting 105+ miles per hour. Then had to hit the brakes hard (triggered ABS) to slow for the next turn. Brakes still feel good no shuddering or shaking. Have less than half of the pad left.

Rotors seem fine to me as well for fast street use. If you get shudder it's brake pad build up. Get em hot and do a few very hard 80-0 stops, might clean it up or take a while. I get brake shudder once in a while, but I can "clean" through it and shudder is gone. Takes about 2-3 stops to warm up the pads in the morning, they've never faded on the street yet. Still on stock pads and rotors at 23K.

I have 9300 miles, in about 10 months. My commute is only about 1 mile. I drive it pretty hard all the time (only got 7k out of the stock tires). The only thing wrong so far was the driver's side headlight went out, which was replaced under warranty.

I personally don't have a problem putting up with paint chips, decel noise, expensive gas etc. because I REALLY love this car. I think it makes a good daily driver too.

Hehe, that's why it's called AC ... it Aint Cold ...

Man it would suck to have the AC go out on an Evo, though. IMO this car pretty much mandates AC in warmer weather. We're finally getting some warmer days here in IL, and when I turn on the fan and set the temp dial all the way to it's coolest setting .... all I get is hot air from the engine compartment I can't see buying an RS with no AC ... that would just be painful.

Question

Nothing wrong at all, I've been treating the Evo good and its been treating me good. Hope to go to some track days, someday. BTW, do you have to be 18 to go to a track?

9.5K new clutch. Trying to decide on keeping or getting a 350z and installing a twin turbo.

I would supercharge the z if you were gonna get that. You get more power out of it from what I hear.

14k, no racing just a couple of trips through moutain passess, still have stock clutch, the problem is this P003 misfire code and bad piston rings that Mits is replacing for free. Im trying to get them to replace whole engine, MMC has been pretty cooperative, unlike the delearship.

I should be able to vote twice!!

My first EVO (red), I had for 3 weeks before I was able to talk the dealer into letting me exchange it for a new one. It had to be towed into the dealer 3 times in three weeks because it had a serious electrical problem that kept blowing the fuse. This car also had a slight grind with 1-2 shifts

My 2nd evo (silver) also has a gear grind with 2-3 shifts, my dashboard became "crooked" after about a month of ownership, and my seat fabric has clips that keep popping off.

I traded in an 03' WRX for this car, and I'm sorry I did. I had 10k left til payoff on that car, and I traded it in for a 20+k loan on a car that I'm worried sick about. I'm not made of money, but I fear you have to be to own a car like this. I really do love the sound of the engine, and the raw power of the car, but it's not enough to make me not regret my decision to buy this car.

I've got 6000 miles on my BBY Evo and the only problems are the driver's seat where a long clip piece keeps coming off on the left side (door side). It's no big deal since I'm swapping out seats for some Sparco's.

There's also that annoying horn that seems to work sometimes and other times it's silent.

P.S. One more thing. Mitsubishi could've used a better fabric on the doors. The small area on my driver's door where I rest my elbow/arm on when I drive is already looking worn. Anyone else have this problem?

15,300 miles. Original tires with good tread. Not a single thing has gone wrong with this car. I'd buy another one in a second.
