These are performance brakes. Performance brakes squeal from time to time - this is not a "problem" per se, but a "comfort" issue. For a $30,000 vehicle that outbrakes a Ferrari 550 a little squeaking is perfectly OK.

I get the hiccup, P0300 code, deceleration noise, and second gear grind when you slam it, but I feel a lot better now that I know I am not the only one, and I also was told by Mitsu that a flash would be coming over ssoon for the P0300 code, but am still waiting. I wish the car didn't do these things, but I love it anyway, if it only had cruise control...

Yes times two..

First set of OEM pads delaminated at one of my on track sessions and FUBAR'ed my inner right rotor.

Pads used so far:
1.OEM Fronts - toast, and right inner failed to wear properly
2. OEM Rears - toast, wore nice and evenly
3. Carbotech Bobcats Fronts - toast, used up at VIR in one weekend
4. Carbotech Bobcats Rears - still working nicely. Very squeaky, but still working
5. OEM Front replacements - on street use only. Monitoring VERY carefully
6. Carbotech Panther Fronts - NICE track pad - VERY hard on rotors. Still have about half the pad left.

Other situations:
Front caliper dust seals - gone. Don't know where or when. Burned beyond all recognition.

Paid out of pocket? Yes. All. Warranty - come on, you gotta be kidding. I'm using these up - they're wear items. I've owned too many cars to even think I should expect these issues to be covered under warranty. 140 + to 30mph stops in 400 feet or less at turn 1 at VIR hardly qualifies for "normal use". I bought a $30,000 supercar to go fast, not to expect the manufacturer to absorb costs of me going so fast my hair's on fire.

Well I guess I had that coming cuz I asked however..

We were talking about squeeking not 140-30 MPH track racing slowdowns at VIR..

Glad to hear you are roasting through brakes on your TRACK CAR. And who really expects to warrant them when your are in fact tracking the beast??! Not me.

Disclaimer:
Street cars with issues not cars on the track being raced..are what we are talking about here..

Let us know how your new pads hold out. Seems to me you are in testing mode to see which pads are the right ones to put on the car for us "garage queens."

This is what the car was made for. The brakes weren't made with huge Brembo's to stop on the way to the grocery store. They squeak a little bit - so what?

So far, the leading knowledge for the best overall pads from my friends seems to be Ferodo's, because the panther's squeak A LOT on the street (but are the best "track only" pad).

No groceries here..I could give two ****s about squeeking brakes..

My rotors have been replaced THREE times due to warping..

THAT is what I am talking about..

There was a big thread about it inb the brakes and tires section..It's a legitimate issue with some of the EVO's.

Heh, heh. Grocery store..Uh..yeah.

Understood. I believe my rotors warped at some point, but track sessions have ... ahem .... straightened them out (I'm actually serious about that).

I'm still waiting for Tire Rack to have a set of EBC rotors for me to have track spares. I'm pretty sure the next track session WILL crack the OEM rotors. They have serious "spider webbing" now.

Some do say..I won't mention any names..Fireball..

That if you really, really use the brakes the warping prob is not an issue..

But no substantiation to this myth thus far..

FWIW local road circuit junkies don't have warping issues, but most daily commuters have "warping" like symptoms, usually from material buildup and dragging the brakes.

Your local brake dentist should tell you; Good use of the braks keeps the build up away..

I agree with Mister2zx3 about most of the "warping" issues actually being pad transfer.

I think there have been several posts on how to "cook" the rotors clean.

anybody know what that rattling behind the odometer is? sounds like a thin *** piece of metal under the defrost vents on the left side of the dash. seems like the only way to get to it is to take off the dash. any thought or experience?
