Save 22 Pounds!

Anyone wanting to run a mini battery and save 22 pounds, this is the one to get:

PC680MJT
Small 680 cranking amp battery with metal jacket and SAE automotive terminals.
Also available without the metal jacket for low temperature applications.
Battery measures 3.11" wide x 7.27" long x 6.67" tall with the metal jacket and weighs 15.4 pounds.

Excellent starting battery where high reserve capacity is not required.
Great lightweight racing battery for shedding extra pounds.
Can be mounted upright or flat
.

Next I found this listing: http://www.elephantracing.com/battery/batterymain.htm

I checked on ebay and here we go:

http://search.ebay.com/odyssey-680mj...wordredirectZ1

Ordered one and saved 60 bucks.

Here's a few threads on evolutionm.net:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ey+Battery+680

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...dyssey+Battery

Mine is going in the trunk...

are you sure this saves 40 lbs? i didn't think the stock battery weighed more than 35-38 lbs or so . . .

also, i noticed that you have RRE's setup with 8.5 in. wide wheels. Where did you get your fenders rolled if you don't mind me asking.

Yep, I've been running the Odyssey PC 680 MJT battery too. I figured it was the most "cost effective" lightweight battery solution compared to the Braille battery (11.5 lbs and $130-$200) or the Batcap 800 (14 lbs and $160). With the metal jacket and auto terminals the battery is about 15 lbs compared to the 35 lbs of the stock battery, so 20 lbs difference. I've been running it in the engine bay, actually rotated it to fit some Buschur upper intercooler piping I'm going to get one of these days

Can I know how much did they charge you for rolling the 4 fenders?

Those are nice little batteries, but I have run into problems. Such as if you ever use a car vac don't expect the car to start, same goes for running any electronics without the car running.

Get this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW, this is the same as the buschurracing battery kit. I have this battery on my car and never had a problem with it.

Turbo4g63, what do you mean by "never had a problem with it?" Are you saying that there is extra capacity in this battery to run your radio for X amount of time or that you haven't had any problems with starting your car?

Also, in the Elephantracing link above, there is an Odyssey battery part # PC925MJT that looks like an interesting way to shave 10 pounds and still retain some capacity. Is anyone familiar with this battery?

I meant I never had a problem with starting and I never tested on the radio. I think it is good for stereo system too. You can check out their website; www.batcap.net.

i really hate it when people say "i really never had a problem".. it's an empty claim but gives others a false sense of assurance... i really dont know the capacity of the stock battery but you should test this battery out before telling others something you have NO clue about :P

This battery runs our car fine. Mini batteries aren't equal. The Odyssey has as much cranking power as ones twice the size. Our alternators are better than weak *** Honda's. Driftzero is right though if you want to run stuff like a car vac or if you are going to jam a stereo, get this one: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/batteryc...y-pc925mj.html

If I lived somewhere cold instead of Cali, I would get the 925 version also.

It is only 10 pounds more- still save 12 pounds

Take out the space saver & pack a can of "fix a flat" and save about 35 lbs.

I have the same battery with ZERO problems Cold weather starts where no problem. I leave my car head lights on all the time and they shut off by them selves. Never had it dead or close to dead. Ive played my stock radio with the car for 30 minutes on time and started right up fine. I have a clue about it and it has be problem free
