Stupid Evo!

Clutch dead, syncho in 3 gone, weird noice that is robbing power under boost. Why so many problems!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5700 miles on my car to. My rx7 didnt even give me this many problems. Which i miss, I miss the wind of the rotary and the sexiness. I was just thinking of how sick a 30k rx7 would be. I cant sell my car im 17 and cant say i dont want it anymore... ugh. I still love my evo though.

Maybe i just need my car fixed and ill be happy again.

well there is a link to the NHTSA about our clutches on here do a search and find the post. so if you did have problems please go and post a complaint, they will investigate the early clutch failure. 2nd if you mod it then expect your mods to have some trouble. i just put on the RMR IC pipes, had one pipe slip off , rechecked, then 1 of the plastic connectors ( not RMR i found out later) got hot and developed a small hole . then had on of the clamps slip and had a boost leak( 20lbs needs really tight clamps). I have fixed them all and now it runs great.bigger FMIC helps too. but not the cars fault . everything else on the car runs great. 4000 miles and no problems that i didnt create with modification. all easy to fix. dont get fustrated get even . fix the problems and go toast some V8's you will feel better in the AM.

You're 17, and have got a near new Evo? FFS!

Your problems wouldn't be related to 'user abuse' would they? Hmmm......

Way to stereotype and assume.

Ever heard of lemons, perhaps that is what you have, every car has lemons. Take it to the dealership get it fixed and stop complaining. Miss the wind of a rotary, then sell your EVO and buy a RX-8 or something, but don't complain when your RX-8 has trouble keeping up with EVOs, or SRT-4s, or 350Zs, or etc.

I think we should start a petition to have the manufacture change the Clutch.

When I had my prelude, the rear suspension was giving people hardache. So they all petitioned and about a year or so, Honda USA did a recall on them and replaced it.

That all came from the petition from that forum.

My clutch is slipping from 1st to 2nd as well and damn it, I'm a good driver. I've never had a clutch slip on me since when I was 18... and that was 8 years ago.

Jeez tough luck. Not bad getting an Evo at 17 though. Hate to think what the insurance on a car like that would be up here in Alberta. A performance vehicle, an import, a driver who can't even legally vote or drink, would be in like the 10k or more range.

how do you know if the clutch is slpipping? what are the signs? when i race my evo it grinds sometimes from 1st-2nd gear when shiffted quickly. does that mean it's slipping? so far i havent had trouble with my evo it has 4000+ miles on her. although it feels like stalling sometimes when i go at a full stop and put it in nuetral i have to pump the acelerator to keep the rpms above 1k then it would go back to normal idle. it did die on me a couple times..

I agree with you, there is a problem. While most people haven't had problems, they might soon have some. Mitsubishi definitly has to work on this problem, and I hope buy the 2005 model, the problem will be fixed, I'm sure most people would be willing to pay alittle extra cash for a more durable clutch. Still for me when I get an EVO which I plan on racing, the clutch will be no problem, because the first modification I will have done to the car is the clutch. Then my car should not give me any problems when I get Vishnu Stage 1+ upgrade and lay down over 300AWHP. As far as the RX-7 goes, I'll take a clutch problem over a blown turbo anyday. I have a friend who is on his third turbo for his 1995 RX-7, 92,000 miles and only bolt on mods. It will be hard to find a single RX-7 owner that hasn't had their turbo blow.

If you could legally drink, you think the insurance is gonna go down? hmmm...

I guess if you could vote, you could drive better. I didn't know that before.

lol.

17yr olds should be driving a beat up civic or some rust bucket. Even if you can afford a nice car. Not for the driver, but for the health of all the rest of us who's half ***, but responsible.

16~19 year olds can't drive. It's not streotype, it's FACT. I know, cause I've been there with all the rest of them.

it's like asking a surgery intern to do a brain surgery. You gotta know how to work the knife and that takes time. Just because you could cut things, that doesn't make you good.

Right?
