expl0d, no matter how much you argue that your a competent driver, the fact remains that there will be animosity towards your situation. Your 15, im assuming, and you own an evolution. How many kids can say that? I honestly doubt very many. Look, im 16 years old myself and i have about 4500 miles on my OD; no accidents, no tickets, nothing. While it may seem valiant to try and argue our standpoint, i honestly feel that people will not change their opinions of young drivers. It bothers me, but this is one of those things that you have to let go because quite frankly, teenagers are the most dangerous drivers out there. I accept this, largely in part due to the fact that i believe that my driving speaks for itself. Most of the older guys here know what they are talking about, as I have watched my friends total their brand new cars days after getting them. Truthfully i think you should let it go, its a stage in life we have to life through and grow out of. Best of luck to you, just know I am in the same spot you are.

Yeah its one of those more money than sense kinda things. There were tons of people like that at my highschool. In my year alone there were people with BMW's, Lexus's, RX-7's, and plenty of riced up civics. In the grade below mine there were two people that got brand new WRX's at 16, the worst part was they were autos. By far the most extreme examples though were the chick who was in my brother's grade (graduated 10 years before me) who got a brand new porsche for her 16 birthday or the chick in my sisters grade (5 years earlier) that got a new Rav 4, didn't like the color, got a new one, flipped it, and got a brand new fully loaded truck while her Rav 4 was in the shop.

Ill be 18 in the next month... but anyways I guess im just mad that these other people feel that im an incompent spoiled little brat who sits here and abuses the **** out of my evo and dont appreciate it.
Inexperience is a bad thing, but experience doesn't mean that you're not ignorant. A lot of people have been driving for a long time, but are still stupid.
Also, just because someone is young doesn't mean they necessarily inexperienced. You could learn a lot in a short amount of time if you put in the time and effort.

Being only 22 and change, I feel as if I should butt in for a bit.
expl0d, regardless of whether or not you're a responsible driver, you should consider yourself extremely fortunate that you have an Evolution. When I was your age, a car was an afterthought, despite the fact that the fact I didn't have a car guaranteed me no chance of ever getting a date -- even a $200 beater would've given me that shot as you've got to pick the girl up from her house somehow. There were a fair number of kids with new cars that mom and dad bought them. I didn't really envy them, but I wouldn't of minded the opportunity.
I did get a car at 18, though I had to twist my folks's arms to cosign the loan. They didn't give me a red cent, it just saved me about 9% APR. It was a 2-year old F-150 XLT. Far from the Mustangs and RX-7s and 3000GTs some friends I knew had.
A year later I compromised again, since I got sick of loading up the bed with 1500lbs of sand to keep weight on the rear axle in winter (winter tires helped, but I still had to keep alert). I simply couldn't be approved for a car exceeding $25K because my credit -- though perfect, lacked history. At the time I wanted an S4, or at worst case, a TL Type-S. I settled for an Eclipse GT at 19, which in retrospect, isn't bad considering there was no cosigner. That car I earned.
Now, here's where I'm going to side with you. I was the youngest person at that company by over 10 years. I was also doing well for myself at 19 -- new car, putting myself through school, and was working along side the senior network admins. However, some people immediately stereotyped. They assumed I was a spoiled brat, that my mom and dad bought the car, etc. They also didn't like the fact that I was making significantly more than some of them, regardless of the amount of work I did. So a few people keyed my car. Badly. They also used it at a parking guide. It's still in that shape, and still needs to be completely repainted, and both bumper covers replaced.
There were a few likely suspects. They always complained about how their teenage kids do ridiculous things, are always getting into trouble, and how all kids are worthless idiots. They were always thorougly rude to me, with no valid reason for doing so as well. No proof though, but the both of them quit immediately when I brought in a police officer to look into things after my insurance company recommended doing so. Again, no proof, but a lot of folks who worked there said that they could definitely see those two stoop to such a level.
Well, I'm 22 now, and have moved on to better things. Only be 22 1/2 when my MR is delivered, but again, I've earned my car. First thing I'm doing? Driving 1000 miles, all under 3500 rpm, to ensure the engine and diffs are happy.. My first mod? A set of snow tires. My second mod? Courses at Skip Barber. Third mod? Courses at Tim O'Neill.

I don't care what cars you owned, how much money you make, and how many hours you work. I go home everynight appreciating everything I own because I pay for it.My post was more pointed toward the younger Evo owners. I never said I was a pro Evo driver at all. I find myself missing the occasional gear and what not, but I'm not gonna go into the dealer and cry about it if something was to happen that was my fault. I'm not giving some of you guys crap for having your car paid for. I'm giving you guys a hard time because you may or may not be appreciating what you have and what your parents have done for you. I just don't think I would think the way I do now if my parents bought everything for me.

WELL I WILL GO INTO THE DEALER AND DEMAND MY CAR TO BE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY, BECAUSE THEY ARE SELLING US A CAR THAT HAS A BAD CLUTCH AND THEY KNOW IT.
I ACTUALLY ALREADY PUT IN A NEW CLUTCH, OUT OF MY POCKET, HOPEFULLY WITH ALL THESE COMPLAINTS, MITSU WILL REIMBURSE ME.
YOU DID MAKE ME FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT REGARDING $$, BUT BELEIVE ME I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING I HAVE, MOSTLY MY TWO SONS AND I HOPE THEY DONT HAVE TO WORK THEIR BUTTS OF. I THINK YOU'D FEEL THE SAME IF YOU HAD KIDS, SO LEAVE THE RICH KIDS ALONE AND LET THEM ALSO ENJOY THEIR EVOS

I don't understand how I made you feel like a idiot in regards of money. I never mentioned how much I make and what not. All I mentioned was THAT I WORKED FOR IT AND PAID FOR IT MYSELF. Actually, now I don't work hard like I did when I was younger so the work thing isn't that much of a big deal to me. I worked hard for what I wanted and saved when I was younger to buy what I wanted. Something every young person should do. It shows responsibility and it helps you mature.
Like I've said in two other past posts. This was pointed more to the younger Evo drivers. If you can't understand that, then I'm sorry. I don't have kids and I"m also not rich at this point in time. Nor do I plan on being rich anytime soon, but when I have kids they will grow up and they won't have things handed to them. I'll help them out when needed like all parents should, but you best believe I will not go into $30,000 in debt to buy them a car to go to school because of their good grades. Kids are suppose to get good grades in school. Just like your not suppose to go to jail and just like your suppose to pay child support. You see a pattern here?
The only reason I can think you are taking so much of a offense to this is because your the type of parent that is being talked about. If so....I'm glad you can afford to do those things for your kids. I'll be able to do it as well. I'll just be choosing a different path to bring up my children.

A few things for Corey to ponder:
-There is a common thing called "manufacturer's defects". Mitsubishi's cars aren't the most reliable. In fact, they just issued a giant recall because they got busted for covering up their defects a few years back.
-Consider YOURSELF lucky, because your car hasn't broken down. If it does happen, would you raise hell at your dealership, or just pay the repair bill happily with your hard earned money?
-Don't be so bittered. There are parents who will do anything for their kids to make them happy. Your parents weren't like that. Mine weren't either, what's the big deal?
-We're here because we love our Evos, doesn't matter who pays for it. The forum provides the opportunity for socializing and sharing our opinion/experience. Please allow everyone to enjoy their cars and the whole experience of the club, and save your argument
