Something similar happened to me in my AUDI. Standing at a red light, the lady in front of me mis-judged the light and started rolling (it was about to turn green). I moved up a bit and the guy behind me didn't see, that, all I did was move up. He slammed his car right into my bumper, prolly about 5-10MPH. I was furious, I got out of the car and started yelling. I didn't want to hold up traffic so I moved to the side of the road, and he said "it doesn't look that bad, let me pull over". Then all of a sudden this guy just took off, weaving in and out of traffic. I had a bad feeling from the start, the guy seemed like he was drunk or really high. I jumped in the car chased him for 1/2 a mile, got a his license plate and called the police (who never showed up). Turned out this guy had a his license and his car registered at a P.O. Box. Till this day I remember the guys plate, god help him if I ever see his POS saturn on the road.

Moral of the story, if you have the ability and the confidence to chase somebody, do it. All you need is the license plate number. I never persude for a hit and run because the hit was so light, infact a little bit of compound and some wax buffed out all the scratches.

if you get the plate call your insurance company... they're way more likely to track them down than the police are.... the police in this country are a joke... i know some departments, Seattle, reject applicants if their iq score is too high. I recommend carrying a nice set of golf clubs; comes in handy and no one ever looks inside a bag of golf clubs -rob

Oh I get it.... You’re one of those uppity Internet Commandos, have to argue on the net @ the drop of a hat to show some E-Supremacy. Its cool, your posts lack sense but your reasoning is as long as you post last you will win; I am gona see how many times you post just for ****s and giggles...Maybe if you win some real battles in life, you wouldn’t feel the need to do so on the internet.

Again not all people have Insurance, a lot don't, in fact that is probably the #1 reason they run. And then you have to make a claime and then your risk goes up. And police really do not care, just follow the guy, he has to stop sooner or later...

Hate to tell you this, but if you got hit at 35 mph, you've got lots more damage than you think.... I got rear ended back in May and the dude was not going that fast for sure. My back bumper was kinda scratched a little and the licence plate got knocked off.... Looking at it during the day you could seen the gap around the trunk lid was wider in the sides and the bumper was separated from the body leaving about a 1/4 " gap.... Anyway, the whole back end was bowed and the trunk floor was crumpled.... There was nearly $3K in damage and although they did a good job on the outside, you can easily see the evidence of the crash in the trunk floor (no way they could straighten all those formed stiffeners in there). Anyway the insurance for the guy's employer is picking up the tab. They'll have to pay me for decreased value as well as the medical & other expenses. Is a PITA, but that's the way it works out sometimes. Oh, BTW, the whole thing about ppl waving other ppl through is dead wrong. I don't agree with it, it just causes accidents. I've t-boned 2 different pickups with 2 Miatas because ppl in front waved them through right in front of me I will rarely if ever wave anybody to cross in front of me or accept such "favors" it's just too dangerous....... Just wait your freaking turn!

if you don't like my gun and our constitutional right, you communistic bastard, I'll shoot you.

lol. just kidding.

Stupid kids with guns make baby jesus cry?

you guys are all nuts. It's just bump and run. $2400 should be covered by insurance and I'm sure there are no frame damage which is good.

Karma, my man, Karma. It'll happen to him 10 folds.

Of course it's ridiculous (as well as appalling, illegal and just plain crazy) to shoot people because you are involved in an accident. Good grief, even if they were involved in a hit and run it's still unlawful as well as plain crazy to shoot people
One of these days somebody is going to be involved in a tragedy for taking this gun totiing advise to heart.

Anyway, a fender bender is never any fun and getting one's EVO damaged is plain irritating and upsetting. However, it's not t6he end of the world. Hopefully the car will be repaired properly, the insurance will pay for the damage and nobody will end up shot dead or in prision for homicide over a few dollars.

Good luck!

I've been reading some of these messages and began getting more concerned with the notion that there is more than 2500 of damage to my car. As I have said it doesnt seem too bad from the outside but that's just what people have been saying, but I've gotten it checked at two places- one a mitsubishi dealer recommendation and the other one my insurance recommended and both quoted within $50 of each other with exact same parts and problems noted. The trunk still opens and closes fine, the windows and doors all seem to close and open properly, and they only quoted like 2 hours of labor for the frame damage. So i mean all i hope at this point is that he did not crash into me that fast, I'm really not too sure because it happened so fast and it wasnt to the point where i turned sideways or moved outta a straight line at all, so maybe it was lower speed. But still there was some impact because i did move forward in my seat a bit. But as someone else said they were hit a lot slower and had like 3 or 4K damage. So should I take it to another place? I want to think i got lucky or osmething but i want everything to be as near to new as possible. Still havent gotten it fixed as we had to settle all the insurance stuff and get claim number and all that nonsense but am thinking about this week. So if someone is around southwest suburbs or nearby of CHicago thats reputable and can give me a complete estimate of everything wrong i would appreciate it. THanks, sorry for the questions just concerned obviously.

Finally somebody has some sense. So Miami(whatever) I guess there are others out here who are too scared to do something about our situation?
And to your last post, that's very big of you...to try and get the last word by saying that I would. Real big. And while we are on the subject, I would be happy if you could quote me saying that I would sit back and let someone damage my car without me attempting to capture or detain the person? You can't, you are talking out of your ***, again. So now I will wait for you to get in the last word.

OMG you are bitter sir, did you show me? Am I teh owned Please Your E-Battling is getting scary. Are you losing sleep over this? But I am flattered, really, of the attention I get from you, I mean here is some arbitrary text typed by some guy named umiami80, and you fly off the handle and go one an Internet Crusade of E-Battles, amazing…

And to your last post, that's very big of you...to try and get the last word by saying that I would.
Oh Im sow-we, did him hurts your chances to wim da Ebattle, what will all your friends say And you posted anyway. Try to get teh last word? WTF is wrong with you? This isn't an E-Battle! This isn't life and death, get over it get a life, or get a girl friend. I had stated that you had no choice but to argue on this forum, you have to, this is your life remember? Nice to see that you have proved my point, you have to keep posting, you have to argue your opinion on the net till you believe it is fact, Jesus get a life Buts thats not fair is it

I would be happy if you could quote me saying that I would sit back and let someone damage my car without me attempting to capture or detain the person?
Your really reaching here huh buddy? Bottom of the barrel? Taking opinion as fact again to feed an argument that exists only in your mind? But by guessing by your constant attention to arguing every little thing about everything you would more then likely run to a phone and call the police, get into an argument with a cop, call the cop an ignorant *****, and then let the bad man finish on your car and then go argue on the internet some more., and so on, you would do nothing, you sir are a coward, and must pick your battles on the internet, good for you

Oh I love this...

You can't, you are talking out of your ***, again. So now I will wait for you to get in the last word.

Ahhh, the ultimate compliment, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I believe I just said this of you, so why would you say the same exact thing to me, did you think that it would be forgotten? This is a forum, if you read below, you will see I just stated this. You suck @ the Internet you know that

Well, if you already went to 2 shops and they are both with a few dollars, the chances are that the estimates are correct. I will say that they might be doing like they did my car. They repaired the outside pretty well and straightened the frame, etc. But the floor in the trunk is definitely not like new . You can definitely see that it's had body work done to it. I guess since it's no a visible area, they don't put it back exactly as it was... That would require cutting out the trunk floor and rewelding a new trunk floor very carefully and skillfully. I guess they just wont go for that.... Anyway, that should strenghten your claim for loss of value. I suspect you should receive anothe $1K-$2K in cash to cover that claim.....

Good luck

Well, the frame was bent a little, but only in the rear where the bumper attaches. It did not affect the handling or the ride in any way. There is no way the car would be scrapped for such small damage. You are right though, they'll have to come up with some cash to make up the loss of value....

Here are some pictures of the accident I was involved in. I was rear ended by pizza delivery guy The damage does not look too bad, but as you can see, the trunk floor was bent and a good bit of work was needed to fix the car
