Oh helllllllll no!!!! That's all I gotta say about one of my worst driving days ever yesterday. I was heading to my friend's house for a bbq and so I go to make a left while the light is red and so a car is nice enough to let me through and just as I start going into the space the light turns green. So I'm just rolling still in 1st at this point.
Now I guess the car that let me through moved to the right lane as he let me through into the left lane of traffic, and this son of a ***** in a newer black Grand Am slams into me maybe at like 35 mph (it's hard to say as I looked into my rearview jsut out of habit checking periodically and see him slam into me and looked pretty fast and felt hard of an impact). I was lunged forward a bit too so it was decent speed. Oh and the best part, the piece of ****, useless, waste of space ******* drives away without ever even hitting the brakes so I guess he knew he was screwed hitting an evo and didnt even think about pulling over. Of course I couldnt get a licence plate number that fast before I realized what was going on so he got away and the county sherriff's like well theres nothing we can really do except if you see him again to report the plate. Im like "officer, are you serious? he hits me and gets away with it? thats a great philosophy so if i ever hit someone i can drive away innocently?"

SOrry for the long maybe drawn out post but I am pissed! I'm the type of person where I'm very specific about my cars and especially my baby which I had only 2000 miles on. Luckily the only good thing is that I must say the Evo as I was a little skeptical about Mitsu quality handled the crash really well and actualyl no dents even that i can see. Just the bumbper is sitting like with a 1 inch gap down from the trunk and black paint streaks. SO i have to go see who Mitsubishi goes trhrough for body work and get an estimate.

Anyone have a rear end accident and know roughyl an estimate and is there really nothing else I can do about this guy ? I'm thinking probably not but if anyone has had a similar situation i would like some input becauise ****in with my car is just one of those things you should not do and I can not accept.

you should have chased him, you got a faster car, got his liscense plate number and got his ***, then sued him for a sprained neck.

 

well, you got no plate, and nothing more than a vague description? what do you expect the cop to do? stop every black grand am they see? its not the cops fault.

 

sorry buddy but you have to think about it...what would YOU do if you were the cop? for all he knows (im not accusing you or anything) you could've been lying or whatever...and add to that, you can only say "it was a black grand am" or whatever...not much you can do with that very vague info...

i hope you learned your lesson from this incident; always have pen & paper ready in ur glove compartment or something so you can write down license plates...

Doesn't matter at this point. If the other driver wasn't at-fault, but fled the scene - he is now 100% culpable

 

Yah, dont mention THAT to the cop (not that it caused the accident or anything, but definently not a good idea even if someone does let you in). Speaking of which, that's a pet peeve of mine, people who let people in when they shouldnt. All they do is impede traffic flow AND cause risk of an accident that is totally unnescessary.

Still sorry to hear about your car getting messed up.

 

A car going 35 mph hit your EVO and you only have damage to your bumper? That seems impossible.

 

you should of called the cops right then and reported that bastard just then. Then the cops could actually pick him up (possibly, very unlikely, but possibly).

I know how that feels. I hate those people who just hit you or bumps you and run!

My prelude got hit (whiled parked) 3 times! when I was at college. If someone hits me with my EVO, I'm gonna get some Forensic scientist to analyse the paint to find out which car it was from and haunt the bastard down and make that my living purpose. Then when I find the bastard, I'll ruin his/her life forever. Maybe I'll go and ruin his families life too, along with his families family and relatives and anyone even slightly close to that person.

But, that's just me.

 

start calling bodyshops and ask around if any grand am went in for an estimate.if they say no maybe you can ask the cops for permission to do that.

A 35mph rear end impact would easily total your car, and his car. Both would be undriveable big time.

I feel your pain. I have been with out my EVO for the last month. 5/6/04 I was driving in the local mountains headed down hill into a corner to the right and some dip$*** coming up the hill in a white pickup is halfway in my lane as I enter the corner. I swerve to the right and my front right tire hits a rock and blows off the rim. The pickup doesn’t even slow down and races off up the road. I was going about 50-45mph when the tire blew. I had to take to corner to sharp to avoid a head on collision so my exit from the corner was wide. I went across the opposite lane of traffic and the driver side of the car scraped the guardrail and so I tried to maneuver to the right and avoid further damage. With the front passenger tire blown the car gripped and made a hard right ripping the wheel out of my hands and sending me head on in to a dirt burm about 2 feet tall. As the car beached onto the berm the front bumper and passenger side wheel well got sucked under the tire and ripped off. The intercooler, lower intercooler piping, A/C compressor and oil cooler all eat it. After it was all said and done all the oil leaked out and the car sputtered and died. This all happened in a few seconds. I didnt get hurt at all no whip lash or anything, the air bags didn’t even go off! SO I get out and grab the cell phone to call 911 well guess what!? No reception!!!! So I sit and wait for about 30 min. until some one drives by and flag them down and have them give me a ride to a phone. The total bill for the damage is $9000 (good thing ins. Covers this stuff right!?I hope you have uninsured motorist on your ins.!!!) My baby should be done this week……. Man crashing SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
