I really cost that much to fix? So that is part of the frame that crunched? Is this Unibody?

You all playing or not guns are not the answer. On the topic of Accidents last year my two freinds were coming home from work and sadly they got rear ended by a SUV going over 70 in a 35 MPH speed limit. My freinds were at the stop sign and sadly they got killed by the SUV. The SUV drivers are now in Jail. They were found drinking and had drugs in the car. So sadly some people won't learn failing to stop could have saved my freinds lives. But yet they fleed. Well ,
Sadly God Bless

I think that all vehicles made these days are unibody construction. The body is welded to the frame, and in the case of the EVO, it's got 170 more welds than the Lancer for stiffness. Unfortunately this also causes any impact to affect pretty much the entire car (you also get banged up pretty good because the car does not crumple so easily). Yes, it costs that much to fix because it's a lot more work than it looks and takes a number of expensive parts to replace the damaged bumper, etc.

damn, silverEVO8 my damage looks a LOT worse than that. similar i guess but the bumper is dragged down with like a 2 inch gap while yours is very slight it seems in pictures at least. So that tells me i was hit a lot harder. How fast were you hit roughly? But as far as i was quoted the frame damage was probbaly similar to yours. Where the spare is its crumpled in like all the way up to the tire such that it would probably be honestyl hard to even get it out right now. So that makes me think i should have more damage to the frame. Oh well, i'll just take what i get. I'm sick of the condidition of my car right now. Wish i had pics to show my particular situation.

Well, I was hit because I stopped and he didn't... I'd guess prolly 20 MPH or so. It's hard to say. Is the rear end bowed out? I mean, has the gap between the deck lid and the rear quarter panels gotten bigger? Also, were the quarter panels crumpled? Maybe your damage was more localized than mine, or maybe the shop rates are lower where you live.... Anyway, they did fix mine up pretty well, except as I said, the trunk floor looks like crap, the crumples were pulled out, but the sheet metal looks like ****. This is the left side of the trunk after body work... Does not look pretty

The outside of the car looks really good. No easy to see evidence of the accident. They did some painting, but i don't know how much. If they blended, they did it well.....

Looks pretty good. Did they have to repaint and clearcoat the whole quarter panel?

I really don't know what they did. When I saw it I decided it looked good enough Of course, it's not "perfect" but perfection is very hard to achieve. Anyway, it looks like they repainted the trunk, rear bumper area and perhaps part of the rear quarter panels. If they did that, they probably blended it somehow. it does not look bad at all from the outside...
