SS Clutch Line, restrictor removal... Void Warranty???

Well I dont feel like going thru the whole process to do the Clutch line and Restrictor removal mod, so im thinking about letting the mechanic at Mistu do it, since he can put it together in a min. Will this void my warranty if my synchros go bad in the future, and if it does, can i just take my car to a diff dealer who wont really know if in the future i did need the service?? and how long is my tranny coverd for?

Thanks

if they perform the maintainance you'd have a pretty good case to fight it

Personally, if I worked for Mitsu and you came in with a drivetrain failure after removing the restrictor I wouldn't authorize a warranty repair of it. But then again, that's just me.

The restrictor pill is there for a reason, it dramatically reduces the chances of extreme driveline shock. Driveline shock is what destroys transfer cases, diffs, and halfshafts.

Uhm...my question is why are you asking us if your warranty will be intact? Last I checked none of us were Mitsubishi Service Reps or Advisors. As for having them do your mods, that doesn't mean you can hold them responsible if you screw up your trans. That's like having them change your oil and then driving the car till the engine seizes. You can't hold them accountable because they didn't tell you to change your oil again in 3000 miles.

Actually if it were not by word of mouth, or written, they would be accountable for the engine seizing.

If the pill is out and you bring in a drive line issue, you will probably have void warranty. That is true whether you, Mitsu or someone else did the mod. Just because Mistu did it doesn't mean it is blessed by Mitsu. They can argue that you asked them to mod the car, so they did.

If you don't want to do it yourself(you should-it is an easy thing to do)< have some other thrid party mechanic do it. If you brought the instructions from this site to any mechanic, they should be able to do it in about 30 min tops.

seems like they will void it for using the wrong kind of wax if they can.

Mitsu is not "voiding" any warranties. They are denying specific claims. There is a big difference. Get it straight. They cannot void your warranty.

It's more like they flag your car with a "warranty watch" and then any future warranty claim must be speciffically "pre-authorized" by Mitsu corporate, or you end up with the bill. That also means they can say "we might cover it", pull your car apart, inspect the damage and then decide not to cover you.

As for removing the restrictor, they would definitly void for that; you've changed how the clutch engages (away from factory spec). If you have a Mitsu tech do it for you, you've also provided them with documented proof of your mod.

Good Luck!
