Evo VIII holding revs on 1/2 & 2/3

Ok i've just bought an Australian/Euro spec Evo so i don't know if you guys get this on the US spec ones, but it's worth enquiring.

I've come accross something with my Evo that is frankly annoying, as i'm not charging thru a forest somewhere, i'm on the street.

When I depress the clutch to change gears on the 1/2 change and 2/3, the car holds it's revs as if I had my foot on the accelerator at the same time. It only happens when i'm changing at about 4000rpm or higher - is this a form of anti-lag built into the car? It makes changing gears smoothly a bit of a pain as it's harder to get the clutch in/out matched smoothly with re-applying the throttle. It also makes anyone standing outside the car watching think you're a bit of a tool as aurally it sounds like you can't drive for ****.

Is this common to all VIIIs? Is there a fix?

I doubt you have the anti-lag on yours...but get us a quick pick of the exhaust manifold to see if they have enabled anti-lag over there...

How quick are you shifting? If you were to wait for the revs to drop how long would it take?

Mine did that too on occasion. Some dummy told me I had a sticky throttle cable but I didn't. I never got to the bottom of the mystery, but eventually it went away. It was annoying, but it never caused any problems. Good luck.

I've also noticed that. When the car is cold or if you have a/c on, you gotta shift incredibly fast for the match to be smooth. I'm not talking about using the clutch to smooth things out. But after the car's hot (mainly after you've driven hard), it takes a long time for the revs to drop down before you let the clutch engage.

I have determined this problem to be driver error, despite my previous posts on the subject.

If you really make a concerted effort to lift your foot off the accelerator 100% before even depressing the clutch .000001", you will see it works fine. I know it's whack, but it's kind of like a 'learn to drive this car' thing that some of us had to go through.

I felt like a moron after I figured out it was my problem. =/ I still do it sometimes when I'm wearing my docs.

If I waited, a good 3 seconds or so! They drop, but veeerrryyy slowly. I've got having a look when I have the first service done next week.

Trust me when I say this, yes when it happens (you accidentally leave your foot on the gas a 1/2 second too long) the revs will fall very very slowly. It makes revmatching on the upshift impossible! Just give it a shot.
