Price for cam angel sensor plastic connector?

Hey guys,

The idiot mechanic who installed my new header (that would be me) broke the plastic conector part of my cam angle sensor. I am trying to find out how much a new one cost. I can probably jury rig a fix with some solder and three wires but I prefer to do things correctly if it isn't too expensive. Anyone parting out a car that can let this part go cheap drop me a line!

Thanks,

Keith

Tell me it was just the connector on the harness, and not the connector on the plate portion..

Nope, it is the expensive part of that union....

Any idea on price? I need this sucker befor the 11th when I leave for the shoot out in Ohio. I have been to three shoot outs and never raced in one. Something always goes wrong!

Unfortunately that cover is part of the whole assembly.. Not available seperately, and the "Core" head I got for my car didn't have it on there.. I think its just over $100 for the entire setup just to get the damn cover.

The part I am talking about is held onto the cam angle sensor with one 10mm bolt and sticks out of the front of the cam angle sensor. I will fix it myself if it is much over $100 (being a former DSMer) but for $100 or less I will get the new part to improve the reliability of the piece over my "quick and dirty" repair methods.

Hey,

I broke mine too, when I tried to fiddle with my Forge BPV

I thought I was the only one.

I got a new sensor from a local dealership. I ordered it from Mitsubishiparts.net, but they didn't have it in stock and I waited for awhile with no update.

Here's the sad part, the plug there where the wires connect at the brown thingy, doesn't really come apart. The new CAS didn't seem like the exact right piece, since the harnesses didn't match. I ended up ripping it apart and connecting the wires to the spade connectors. It's not perfect. Car seems to run fine, but since the cas is so sensitive, I wonder if it causes driveability or perf problems.

Good luck,

FB

I feel for you, that is SO frustrating.. I'm doing my blowthrough MAF sensor, and I had to grab a OE MAF sensor (from another car with the same connector on it) so I can salvage the connector and not have to cut the stock wiring harness.. I hate when you have to jury-rig things..

BTW, I think the sensor is the plastic part.. It should be some sort of hall-effect sensor..

In the picture he provided (very good pic BTW) the part that is still attatched to the head is the sensor portion. I believe (no proff) that it is a simple coil inside and there is a magnet attatched to the end of the cam. When the magnet swings past the coil it indeces a current.

Anyway, I ordered a new one from the local stealership and it should be here Wednesday. Cost me $55.00

Yours broke in EXACTLY the same place mine did! I know the piece doesn't come apart, I was going to bust the plastic up with some pliers to expose the conductors if the new part was more than $100 and solder on three wires, then connect those three wires to the stock harness. Since the part is less than $100 (cost me $55) I just ordered a new one. IF that one is the wrong part like you ran into I will blow a gasket at the dealership and make them give me the correct piece.

Thanks for the pix,

Keith
