Cover car during trip?

I'm leaving on a trip for 3 weeks and I am trying to decide whether it's worth it to cover my car or not. If I'm going to cover it I'm not sure what to use either, I don't want anything that will mess up my paint. Any help would be great!

there's really no need to cover your car, just give it a good wax job i guess. I would drain the motor oil and top off the gas also.

So are you leaving on a trip, that will be 3 weeks in duration? Or, in three weeks, you will be leaving for a trip of unknown duration?

Unless you are going to be away for a few months, just wash the car, and park it somewhere it won't be in the way. Don't worry about covering it.

If you are leaving for trip that is 6 months or more in length, make sure the engine has fresh oil in it, make sure the tires are up to proper pressure, and make sure you put some fuel stabilizer into the tank. Just draining the oil, as listed above, would be bad! You don't want to introduce moisture laden air to places that should normally be covered with oil....

Do what I did when before I had a house. Go to a mini storage place and rent a unit for 1 month. ( if they are cool, they will pro rate you for the 3 weeks and not charge the full month)

It's just like a garage, close the door and padlock it. No worries about your car getting vandalized, stolen, bumped, dinged, etc. Come home to a perfectly clean car. For the money a good cover costs, the storage may be cheaper.

I did this every time I went away for more than a week at a time. Worth it for the piece of mind.

i would cover it. if your luck is like mine a bird would crap on it the day after you left and it would sit there for three weeks eating away at your paint.

I like the storage idea better for a 3 week duration.
