Doubt it, unless somone changed the gearing. And i think it would take some power for an EVO to overcome that much air resistance. Besides, no one buys an EVO for its top speed.

K, all im saying is that the evo is limited at like 157 by the ecu and wouldnt go much past that anyway becuse 5th gear isnt that long. You would have to change the gearing for it to go 200, and Im sure that it would need considerable power to overcome the air resistance. So IMHO if you wanted top speed, you should have gotten a different car.

Isn't the physics behind hitting terminal velocity something to the effect of in order to go maybe 10% faster, you'd need to make more then 50% more power? I am in no way an engineer, but I remember someone once saying that in regards to the porsche carrera GT

I don't think anyone has spent enough time in a wind tunnel to get this brick up to 200 MPH. With the current Aerodynamics, I'm thinking you'd need 800-900 HP, a very long final drive (or different gearing in the tranny), and ***** the size of your head because of how unstable the car is about 130.

I think that it was Rollaway that hit 8600 RPM's in fifth. That equates to 199.9 MPH with our gearing and tire size. Last I saw he was looking for a gps to confirm.

you just proved yourself wrong... you wont be going for top speed on a track... in fact if you are going 5th gear for more then a few seconds, then your probably not driving as hard as you can.... then again maybe if you enjoy driving around an oval but the evo wasnt really made for that

well i was real close... 188mph gps confirmed... i ran out of highway and before i decided to go again the other direction i checked out my car at a rest stop... i noticed that one of my tires had a plug in it(bought them used)... after seeing that i decided not to run at high speeds again till i get a new set of tires..

btw all the coolant in my radiator had disappeared as well....

if you want a modded compact car that can push to 200mph... you want power and the lowest drag coeficient possible...

one car comes to mind at this moment, which is the g35 coupe which has coefficient of .28 with the aero option. now once you throw a single turbo on and other mods, maybe you can push it to 200mph
