i used 15w 50 mobil 1 but think i'm going to change it to 10w30.

I use the 15w 50, Might cost you a few and I stress few HP but it does give you great protection in the case of minor detonation where a thinner oil damage may occur. I do know that thickers oils do offer a little more protection. Just my .02.

not sure I have ever heard that oil viscosity has any effect on detonation. please inform me.
