i get a reading of 22 psi tapering down to 19 by redline.
my boost is set to 19.5
i have an autometer ultra lite and the vacum hose is a clear plastic hose that is very thin and cheap looking.
would changing this hose to a rubber vac line help my readings?
You're running a mbc right?

I dont think the hose would make a difference. Its your tap. You could either try the next hose up or the hose that is in the picture on the bottom of page 1.

I have the same Autometer gauge with the clear plastic tube. I tapped off the FPR to the left of the dipstick, no problems, rock solid reading. I have 19-20lbs of vacuum at idle, I can rev in neutral to build about 4lbs of boost (BOV vents), and I have it reading 19psi, no flutter or taper. You'll be fine using that as long as its installed correctly with all the connections sealed tightly.

Did you take out the boost control pill in the line to the wastegate?

That plastic line is tinsy... that's why I used the vaccum line from a hardware store and brass fittings.

Dito. Mine is perfect and I've installed several more the same way; none have experienced any issues.

Ummm, if youre going to edit my picture, you could at least say that both spots will work fine. It makes it look like one way is wrong vs another

Gang a boost gauge only messures pressure inside youre vaccum hoses. Almost any vaccum line will work.

His readings on the boost gauge sound like a result of him pulling the pill out of the wastegate line. That's why he's holding boost to redline where ours tapers off.

well ur tryn to get the most accurate reading possable. both of thoes do work as i stated earlyr and i did say that in the post. dont mean to make ur pic look bad its just a color that stands out and i dont want to be giveing incorrect info but for a better place to tap where the a/f ratio doesnt get changed as it does or could the best place to tap as iv been told by malabuejack ( sorry if iv spelt any thing wrong ) is the vacume line on my first picture where i also have it circled in red if ur vacume hose can reach. if not the best of thoes two vacume lines is the second one where i have circled.

ps
both spots dont allways work fine. they might work but will not allways show correct boost / vacume
