Updating the track info. We'll be running the full course at Streets of Willow clockwise.

Can I do the driving school and get a transponder on top of that? I would be curious as to my lap times eventhough I am not really interested in 'competing'.

Next year lets do it at Pahrump.... close to Vegas, party hardy!!

As long as they have enough, they will rent you a transponder. It was nice for me as I could compare my times to others (I was running about 10-20 seconds slower than the Evo and Miata, and about 5 seconds slower than the Corvette and Type R)

Just a thought: Please get a second rescue/ambulance if you are running the bowl. 27 cars have rolled in the last 4 years there because it it a 25 degree drop on the outside of the turn. If you go off there you will roll. That would tie up the track if the ambulance needs to run up to kern to take someone to the hospital as the emergency crew would be absent.

Porsche Owners Club, EOC and others don't run the bowl for this reason. The bowl isn't a big deal on a regular open track day with hondas, but with a bunch of really fast evo's driven in anger- better safe than sorry imo.

Don't want to see interruptions to the event!

If that's the case,

Maybe that should be changed, Not everyone running may have that kind'a experience to run the course safely.

I have run Streets of Willow in a modified 350Z. It is a relatively short track (1.8 miles) with a lot of tight turns, and only 2 relatively short straightaways. Therefore, this will be much more a "shootout" of EVO suspension, steering and braking than it will be about sheer turbo power.

I'd like to see this event run on the big road course, Willow Springs International Raceway -- "the fastest road in the west." It is right next door to Streets. It is a 3 mile track with lots of straights and fast sweepers, including a half-mile front straight.

Either way it will still be fun. BTW the guy who runs SpeedVentures owns an EVO VIII. He drove my new EVO RS at Spring Mtn. Raceway in Nevada last weekend, and liked how it steered and handled around the track (with the front diff. and lower weight) much better than his VIII.

Ran the bowl ccw yesterday and saw an evo do a dukes of hazzard style launch coming out of the bowl- luckly he wasn't going fast enough like we will, but bent a rim nicely and cosmetic stuff. Going off clockwise as you exit the bowl over a 100 just rolls the car and ***** it...

GT40: Trusting that your math is accurate, that works out to 8.5 rolls per year on a course that thousands race on per per year, which includes a significant number of out-of-control dummies in Mustangs. I feel that the full course (with the bowl) is the way to go. It is the "actual" race course after all, with lots of room for comparison with other events. It will showcase the abilities of the better set up evos and the better drivers. Newbies and intermediates should heed GT40's advice and take the bowl under control, but this is a tuner shootout #1.

It all depends on how many times per year they run the bowl too. Out of 6 track days i've been to there, only 1 time have i experienced the bowl.

Should be a fun shootout. Cant wait to see what the outcome is!

I'll look into the bowl situation and see what we can do.

Also, Group5Motorsport has registered for the shootout as well.

My only point here was it might be a good idea to get an extra ambulance crew to insure the event isn't unnecessarily delayed. This is a relatively modest additional cost that is just insurance.

I would expect everyone in the shootout to have competent drivers so the bowl is just another turn to them.

The thing is - the event is a shootout so things are going to be more interesting than a regular track day.

We are going to run the track clockwise with the bowl at our next event on November 28th to give folks a way to step things up a notch. We will have a special tuner group for anyone wanting a last chance to dial in their car on the same configuration: http://www.evolutionownersclub.com/html/events.html

There are spots available
