remove stock air box
remove stock air box
anyone have a little tutorial on how to remove the stock air box to put on a open air element cone filter... just the one taht bolts up to the stock piping and MAS meter. i know its prob easy was just seeing if anyone had a tutorial on it since im goin with bud to get one tomarrow then isntalling it.
im sure theres one on here somewhere. But just as a pointer, try to take the airbox assembly AND the maf sensor off all at once. Don't deal with separating the two until its out of the car.
Also, make sure you have an impact wrench or a quick hand or something, otherwise you'll damage the inside plastic walls that hold the bolts in

2 words AIR TOOLS! Once you see how the maf is on the airbox u will understand it is all about torque! Oh and if u use pliers like i did and a wrench use tape over the honey comb in the maf.... It takes a good hour maybe 2 to do it without air tools with air tools i would say less then 5 min to remove the maf from the aibox. The plastic pieces just love to break off I was only able to torque one nut off without the plastic pieces breaking broke the rest of them. I thought i had a technique going but was unable to duplicate it. Put the wrench on it and try a quick blow to it that was how I was able to get the one out without breaking the plastic tabs that hold the thing in place. The thought of pliers and using alot of force around those OHH SO delicate honey combs inside the maf is just priceless!
