Sparco Harness bar Question

I just installed the Sparco Harness bar. Took me a while because the instructions from the net is a bit confusing. Finally got it installed after couple of hours messing around with all the bolts and washers.

Question that I have is..... The bar to the B Pillar of the car. Is it suppose to have some 'slack'. It moves because the bolt supplied is smaller than the opening on the bar itself. Just wondering if I installed it correctly?

Thanks.

NO. It should not have "slack". The installation should be very straigtforward and not take more than an hour. Please call Alan Viado at Sparco to discuss installation procedures and to get some assistance. His number is (949) 797-1750. Please tell him that you posted this issue on EvoM and that Scott told you to speak with him.

Good luck.

I've called Sparco and spoke with someone there. Got it figured out. It was one of the diagonal bars that wasn't tight. After turning the bolts a couple of times it 'triangulated' and the bar is now on there tight.

Thanks for the help

I don't have pictures of the install but you can download the instructions off the Sparco website.

Here are some things that you have to be careful with.

1.When disassembling the seat belt assembly around the B Pillar shoulder belt, try not to warp or mess up the 'Factory Retaining Washer' It should screw out with some work. (I pryed on the driver side one and almost messed it up) The washer keeps the seatbelt guide from shifting/moving after you tighten the bolt.

2.Measure out the lengths left on the bolts after you install the diagonal bar eye bolts. It's open ended on both sides of the diagonal bar. (i.e. how much did you screw into each side before installing) because if you didn't you might not have your 'harness bar' screwed on straight after you turn the diagonal bars to tighten the harness bar. Took me a couple of adjustments taking the diagonals off and attaching them to get them right.

3.Download the belt looping instructions for the shoulder belts from the Sparco website so to know how to loop the belts through the buckle.

Also it makes life easier to have someone to help you hold on to the other side of the harness bar as you install it to the B Pillar.
