Engine check light !!!

I have a 2003 evo 8 and 31k on it . I just had a new clutch installed and it runs great by the way but my engine check light just came on with a DTC P0300 meaning that there was a misfire in multiple cylinders...how can this be??? I'm going to inspect the ingnition system manana. but should I turn the light off and see if it misfires again? or should I keep it on? what should I do? what could be the problem?

Does the car actually misfire? P0300 often randomly appears - it means nothing.

yep do a search, their are tons of others with the same problem as you. It may have misfired, but many people have had it come on in error. I believe their is still no fix for it.

what kind of plugs do you have? I had the same problem, and it was because the idiots at the dealership put regular plugs in. Just a thought.

well i still have a stock ignition system , what I'm going to do is turn the light off and see if it comes back on .....im guessing if it does than there is a problem. **** poor 91 octane california gas could be more than half the problem!!!

Mitsu knows about the problem, there is a reflash to fix it.

This is a very, very well known problem on the 03s. Here's a bunch of threads on the topic:
