Part number 06 EVO IX

my dealership sold me MZ690116 which was a shorter filter which looks just like the one I took off from the car for the first time and bolted on right.

I noticed however that the "FACTORY" filter although it looks the same with the difference of some Japanese writing on the site has a differet part number. - has anyone else noticed this?

Add oil to filter to prevent dry-startup. Other then that and the filter size, good write-up!

Just changed my 9MR - just curious

as to what the purpose is of the electrical connection on the oil drain plug? It's completely different than the one pictured, has no crush washer, etc. I wonder if it's for the oil pressure gauge? At any rate, I torqued it back fairly lightly (around 15-20 ft/lb) and guess it's ok.

Also, just fyi, the filter number from the factory was different than either of the ones in this thread, but looked just like the smaller model.

are the crush washer really necessary to buy new every time you change your oil?

the crush washer will assure a proper seal with no leaks.

if you reuse one you risk putting another crease in the edge and getting a leak

you can use the old tried-and-true copper crush washers which should be pennies each at your local auto parts store

but, yes, I agree that they should sell you one with the filter at the dealer if you use the MMA part

It does come with the filter dude if you buy factory of course (which is what I reccommend, and the only one I would use anyway).
