How to change stock radio backlight color

Guys, remember that if you replace an incandescent bulb with a normal LED, you must insert a resistor somewhere in the circuit! A LED requires a resistor or it's simply gonna burn out on you. (Finally, it would have served some purpose to have taken electronics courses!

BTW: I think I remember it took about 1K on the circuit... but I don't even remember what the formula was to calculate this. Anybody with fresh electronics knowledge who could pitch in?
