EVO IX Front Bumper Removal + Intercooler Install help PLEASE!!

If I don't have my undertray on the car, should that effect the ease of removing the front bumper?

Anyone suggest what tools I'll need to remove the bumper?

After the front bumper is removed, what exactly is entailed in installing a FMIC?

Thanks

If you don't have an undertray, it will make removal of the bumper faster and easier, all you need is a 10mm and then the ones by the air ducts I believe are a 7/8? A flat head screw driver to pop off the clips up top and then the ones below use a phillips head and pretty much undo those. The fmic is simply unbolting it from the body and removing the clamps on either side, not very hard at all

I may try this on my own then, would installing a UICP at this point be very difficult?

Thanks

Evomoto has pretty good instructions. The only real difference between the IX and the VIII is the two bolts on the front have a little cover over them, and there's no IC spray piping to worry about.

Taking off the front bumper on these things is so easy it's not even funny.

I may just attempt this tomorrow. Never done anything like this so you can imagine I'm nervous. It'll probably only be the uicp plus mini battery kit for now, I assume this still requires removing the bumper?

I'm kinda concerned about the bov, hopefully that won't pose any issues.

i just did this last night in about 20-30 min. it was cake, dont foget the pop clips in the wheel wells and the 10mm bolt, then pop the sides down, there are 2 hook things in the center , so pull the bumper upward and out. the 2 bolts behind the painted circles are 12mm i think

im actually worried about these pop out clips, so i just lift the bumper up and out and im good?

So theres 2 bolts in the front that are hidden, some bolts when you pop the hood and then 3 bolts/screws in each wheel well? Is that it?

Is it very difficult to change out the bov?

i really dont understand the issue w/ the undertray. i mean removing the whole damn thing would be annoying but removing the clips enough to remove the front bumper is actually not a nightmare.

best method is get an exacto knife. now just lightly stick it under the head of the plastic fastener so it can sorta help push it down (and out). start slowly unscrewing w/ screw driver. after a certain point just unscrew it off w/ ur hands.

i mean i can remove a fastener in like 5 seconds. just dont understand people's issue w/ it.

the bov is easy, the pop clips must come out,u got it , if u look at the bumper there are 2 circles that pop out then flash a light inside and u will see the bolts im talking about, u have to remove the license plate bracket to get to the drivers side one

Read Evomoto's instructions and you'll see it's really pretty easy, but here's the step-by-step I use to do it (without the front undertray):

1. Unbolt the 10mm bolts from both sides inside the fender well. They can be found at the top edge of the bumper right where the seam between the fender and the bumper.

2. Unfasten the plastic fasteners on either side in the fender well. These can be found between the bumper and the plastic fender liner. Just take a phillips screwdriver and screw out the center, and then pull out the holder. When you put it back together you can just push the center into the holder.

3. Unbolt the two 10mm bolts from the grill area and undo the 6 fasteners. The two upper fasteners have to be unscrewed like the ones in the fender well, the other four just take a small blade screwdriver to pop out the center section.

4. Remove the two small round covers in the front of the bumper on either side of the intercooler opening with a small blade screwdriver. Unbolt the 10mm bolts inside each one.

5. Pull down on each corner from inside the fender well until you hear a "pop". You will see the small white tabs that pop into a socket in the fender edge.

6. You should now be able to just carefully pull the bumper off from the front.

That's it! The bumper should be off. To put it on just reverse the steps, basically.
