I'm not completely sure yet. My girlfriends father is an excellent body man, so I'm going to talk it over with him and get his thoughts on it first. This is what I'm thinking...

1.) Do a few very light even coats with no sanding. And 3-4 coats of clear to get the shine I'm looking for. After a good month of hardening time, I will wet sand and compound.

2.) Assuming that method one fails, i will sand first with 2000grit paper to give the paint a little something to hold on to. After that, same process. Do a few very light even coats with no sanding. And 3-4 coats of clear to get the shine I'm looking for. After a good month of hardening time, I will wet sand and compound.

The only thing I can see going wrong, as I have heard of it happening is the paint fading away because of the heat of the light; I'm assuming. If this happens I will take the second approach hoping that the paint will hold better.

I'd like to know how evodave does it. I'm hoping mine looks as good as his does. He does a wonderful job, I just cant be without tail lights for 2-3 weeks.

Suggestions welcome!!
