spring removeall/install help!

spring removeall/install help!

hey guys


when i take off my springs,and install my tanabe gf210's,do i need to cut the bumpstops?can anyone show me where to cut them?and is a spring comressor necessary to remove the springs?

You definitely want to use a spring compressor or something of the like, unless you don't mind loosing a limb.

wtf cut the bumpstops?. hell no. you just take the strut out of the car and undo the bolt at the top"be carefull the spring might shoot off as soon as the nut comes off", pull out the old spring and drop in the tanabe's. i just use my body weight to push down on the spring to compress it and then have someone help u get the nut started at the top. then torque the nut at the top with the specs given and everything else to put the strut assembly back in. its easy, i lowered my car in 30min. with air tools using the tanabe gf210. safety first and good luck!.

in one of the steps he said if they dont give you bumpstops it might be necessary to cut the bumpstops?

No air tools only for the top strut nut. The rest is fair game.

You can rent the spring compressor from Kragen, or your local public library might have one in the tools department. Yes, some libraries do have tools you can check out.
